  • Flesh and Spirit: Two Directions, Not Two Parts
    Apr 8 2026

If you've ever read Paul talking about flesh and Spirit and thought — is he saying the body is bad? — you're not alone. Today I want to show you why I think that reading misses something fundamental, and what Paul is actually arguing in Romans 8.

The contrast between sarx and pneuma is not body versus soul. It is a question of direction — which way your whole self is turned. And once you see that, everything changes.

Part 6 of 7 in a series on what the Bible actually says about being human.

The Consecrated Body helps Christian women reclaim God's vision for embodied, whole-life discipleship — dismantling cultural lies and rebuilding biblical truth, body and soul, unto Christ.

Hosted by Alicia Laumann — dance artist, longtime professor, and someone exploring what it means to live fully embodied in Christ.

  • The Future of our Body: 1 Corinthians 15
    Feb 11 2026

What did Paul actually believe about life after death?

In this episode of The Consecrated Body, we explore resurrection—not as soul escape, but as embodied hope. Looking closely at 1 Corinthians 15 and the resurrection of Jesus, we ask: Are our bodies temporary shells… or seeds of future glory?

If Christ is the firstfruit, then our future is not disembodied existence, but renewed, transformed, embodied life in Him.

This conversation might gently challenge some Western assumptions—but ultimately, it’s an invitation into joy. Because if resurrection is real, then your body is not incidental to your faith. It is part of God’s redemptive plan.

And that is very good news.

  • Paul, Psuchē, and the Whole Human Being
    Jan 30 2026

How does the Bible really view the human person? In this episode, Alicia explores Paul’s understanding of psuchē—often translated “soul”—and shows how it reflects a whole, embodied life, not a body-versus-soul split. We’ll challenge common dualistic ideas, uncover Hebraic insights about life and the body, and consider what it means to live fully alive in God’s design.
