• The Future of our Body: 1 Corinthians 15
    Feb 11 2026

What did Paul actually believe about life after death?

In this episode of The Consecrated Body, we explore resurrection—not as soul escape, but as embodied hope. Looking closely at 1 Corinthians 15 and the resurrection of Jesus, we ask: Are our bodies temporary shells… or seeds of future glory?

If Christ is the firstfruit, then our future is not disembodied existence, but renewed, transformed, embodied life in Him.

This conversation might gently challenge some Western assumptions—but ultimately, it’s an invitation into joy. Because if resurrection is real, then your body is not incidental to your faith. It is part of God’s redemptive plan.

And that is very good news.

  • Paul, Psuchē, and the Whole Human Being
    Jan 30 2026

How does the Bible really view the human person? In this episode, Alicia explores Paul’s understanding of psuchē—often translated “soul”—and shows how it reflects a whole, embodied life, not a body-versus-soul split. We’ll challenge common dualistic ideas, uncover Hebraic insights about life and the body, and consider what it means to live fully alive in God’s design.

  • The Making of the Modern Self — From Descartes to Freud
    Dec 18 2025

In this third episode of our seven-part series on biblical anthropology, Alicia continues the “demolition” phase by tracing how key post-Renaissance thinkers reshaped our modern understanding of the self. Drawing on Carl Trueman’s Strange New World, we explore how ideas from Descartes, Rousseau, Marx, Nietzsche, Freud, and Reich contributed to today’s expressive individualism—and how this cultural inheritance often stands in tension with Scripture’s integrated vision of the human person.

We also reflect on the biblical inner life, Augustine’s journey inward and outward toward God, and what it means to let God have authority over both body and soul. The episode concludes with a guided body prayer inspired by Julian of Norwich.

  • Weaving Your Threads: Living the Jesus Way with Joy
    Sep 25 2025

Ever feel the pull between the impersonal "American Way" and the joyful, intentional "Jesus Way"? In this episode, we unpack Eugene Peterson's call to reorient everything under Christ's kingship—not as added pressure, but as a creative adventure. Drawing from Jennie Allen, learn to weave your life's "threads" (passions, pains, skills, relationships) into organic, joy-filled ways to live Jesus in your daily life! Swap checklists for "get-tos" that refresh your soul and bless others. Perfect for busy women craving purpose amid the rush.

    Reflection Questions:

    1. If you are being honest, do you live life in the American Way or in a Christ is King way?
    2. What’s one thread in your life—maybe a passion, a skill, or even a past struggle—that you feel God might be inviting you to weave into His kingdom work?
    3. When you think about anchoring your life’s threads in Christ, what’s one way you can surrender a “must-do” mindset and embrace a “get-to-do” joy in living for Him?

  • Shouting Unto the Lord: A Call to Let It Rip for His Glory
    Sep 11 2025

Join host Alicia Laumann on The Consecrated Body as she explores the power of shouting to God in praise, lament, and raw emotion. Through a personal story of her daughter’s struggle with depression, Alicia unpacks biblical calls to raise our voices (Psalm 98:4, Ezra 3:11-13) and the physical benefits of shouting. Discover how honest vocal expression can mend the body-soul divide, drawing us closer to Christ. Reflect with us on bringing your whole self to God and find practical ways to shout for joy inspired by Scripture and C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

    Reflection questions:

Is there a “right” or “wrong” way to shout to the Lord? Has today’s conversation sparked curiosity about how you can bring your whole self to Him in prayer?

    • How do you use your loud voice most often? Is it to tear down (like I sometimes struggle with) or to build up, like cheering for my dance students?
    • Are you bringing all of yourself to God—your joys, your pain—or are you holding back, like my daughter did for a time?
    • Can you think of ways to weave good, truthful shouting into your life?
