  • Looking Your Best - The Daily Beauty Ritual Most People Skip
    Feb 16 2026

In this episode of The Essential Discourse Podcast, I ask a simple but uncomfortable question: How do I really look on the inside compared to the outside?

I walk through the everyday rituals we use to make ourselves look good. Hair. Outfits. Cologne. Makeup. Then I flip the script and challenge us to give that same time and energy to our souls.

You spend minutes each morning perfecting your appearance. You check mirrors. You adjust collars. You smooth wrinkles. But when did you last examine your character with the same attention?

Your exterior gets constant maintenance. Your interior often gets neglect.

I want you to consider this: What if you invested equal effort in both? What if the care you show your reflection matched the care you show your spirit?

This episode pushes you to measure your inner life with the same precision you measure your outer presentation. The results might surprise you.

  • The Truth About Obedience - Are You Sabotaging Your Own Blessings?
    Jan 29 2026

Welcome to The Essential Discourse Podcast with your host, Bruce Smith.

You speed on the highway. You cut corners at work. You ignore the voice telling you what's right. Why do we do this?

Bruce Smith tackles obedience in this episode. Not the blind, robotic kind. The kind where you align your choices with what you know is true.

He breaks down how obedience shapes your relationships, your faith, your health, and your wallet. He uses real-life examples and scripture to show you what's at stake when you follow through and what you lose when you don't.

You'll hear candid stories. You'll get tough love. You'll face questions about your own patterns.

"If you really want to be blessed, let's start by being more obedient," Bruce says. He means it.

This episode is for you if you want to grow spiritually. It's for you if you need motivation to stay on track. It's for you if you're tired of sabotaging your own success.

    Press play. Listen. Then act.

  • Getting Ready for 2026-What Worked and What Didn’t In 2025
    Dec 30 2025

Welcome to The Essential Discourse Podcast. In this episode, I close out 2025 with a personal and honest review of the year. I'll walk you through what went well, what went wrong, and what lessons I am taking into 2026.

I share my experience of starting a business and producing content, which I believe connected with listeners. I also discussed where I struggled, including consistency with the podcast, time management, and being distracted by view counts and comments. I open up about the challenges of balancing a full-time job, family, church responsibilities, and a new business, all while trying to keep the podcast moving forward.

Technology, AI, and the drive for perfection became obstacles for me. I question the reliance on AI for content and the trap of constantly checking for online validation. I also reflect on the importance of focusing on the process and putting out solid work, regardless of immediate feedback.

You’ll hear an open call for listener feedback. I want to hear about your own wins and lessons from 2025, what habits you built or need to break, and whether you achieved the goals you set for yourself. I ask you to visit edpshow.com and join the conversation.

This episode is practical, direct, and focused on real growth. I appreciate you allowing me to share his story. Hopefully, you'll find it helpful and learn something practical to help you adjust and start the new year with purpose and accountability.
