Different roles, same hard work: Sean coached two teams for extra income while Antoinette raised their baby and made their house a home.

In Episode 13 of The Forever and a Day Show, Sean and Antoinette McDonald look back on one of the most demanding seasons of their marriage: growing their careers while raising an infant in a new state.

After they moved to Virginia, Sean took on extra work through the schools. He coached the football team and the girls’ basketball team to bring in more income, and that meant long hours away from home. Antoinette was home with their baby, making a home and creating the structure that gave Sean a soft place to land.

That season didn’t come easy. Sean and Antoinette talk about what it was like to play different roles, the challenges that came with it, and the lessons they learned along the way.

Their story is a reminder that career growth and a strong marriage don’t have to compete. When both partners value each other’s role, a family can grow through even the busiest seasons.

Episode 13, “Balancing Marriage And Career Growth”, invites listeners to look at how they and their spouse share the load, recognize the contributions that often go unseen, and build a rhythm that supports both their careers and their marriage.

Consider this week’s question: Does your spouse know how much their role in your family matters to you?

  • How Our Careers Began... And What We Didn't Know Then
    Oct 20 2026

They left Pittsburgh for Virginia with only $32 in their pockets and teaching jobs waiting for them.

In Episode 12 of The Forever and a Day Show, Sean and Antoinette McDonald look back on the start of their teaching careers and the money lessons they had to learn the hard way.

They were young, they had no experience managing their own income, and they had just been hired for teaching positions in Virginia. They left Pittsburgh with only $32 to make the move and start their new careers. The move scared them, and at times they questioned whether they had made the right decision.

Sean and Antoinette talk about how hard it was to handle career money for the first time, and how they got through the early years of their teaching careers while learning to manage their finances as they went.

Their story is a reminder that everyone starts somewhere, and that fear and doubt are often part of the journey. The early years don’t have to be perfect, but what you learn about money then can shape your family’s future for decades.

Episode 12, “How Our Careers Began...And What We Didn’t Know Then”, invites listeners to think about their own beginnings, recognize the lessons they’ve learned, and pass that wisdom on to the next generation.

Consider this week’s question: If you could go back to the start of your career, what would you do differently with your money?

  • What Commitment Really Looks Like After The Honeymoon Phase
    Oct 14 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

They never got a honeymoon. Almost 25 years later, they’re finally taking one.

In Episode 11 of The Forever and a Day Show, Sean and Antoinette McDonald look back on the beginning of their marriage, including the unconventional circumstances that led up to their wedding day.

They explain why they never took a honeymoon. Life got real quickly, and the newlyweds had to focus on what was in front of them.

Now, nearly 25 years into their marriage and about to become empty nesters, Sean and Antoinette are finally taking the honeymoon they missed. This time it’s not just a trip. It’s a lifestyle.

Their story is a reminder that a marriage isn’t defined by how it starts. Commitment is built in the seasons that follow, and it’s never too late to celebrate the life you’ve built together.

Episode 11, “What Commitment Really Looks Like After The Honeymoon Phase”, invites listeners to reflect on where their marriage began, honor how far they’ve come, and be intentional about the season ahead.

Consider this week’s question: What season is your marriage in right now, and what are you doing to keep growing together?
