• Nostalgia Bait
    Oct 26 2026

One line from The Sandlot can ruin your whole day in the best way: that moment when you realize the last time you hung out with certain people didn’t come with a warning label. We start there and let it spiral into “Nostalgia Bait” questions that pull real stories out of all of us, the funny ones, the tender ones, and the ones that quietly explain who we are now.

We talk about the routines that became traditions without anybody naming them, from holiday drives to look at Christmas lights to family gatherings that only feel sacred after someone is gone. The memories get specific fast: Blockbuster weekends, library swaps, Saturday morning cartoons, learning lyrics without a phone, and that childhood creativity that came from having to make a game out of nothing. We also keep it honest about adult life, work stress, bills, and mental health, including the weirdness of being forced into a therapy break and what anger looks like when it’s really exhaustion.

Food nostalgia shows up like it always does, top ramen habits, grandparents’ desserts, tuna casserole, salmon croquettes, and the hard truth that some dishes only taste “right” when the right person makes them. Then we zoom out to parenting in 2025: kids raised by technology, the internet widening their lens, gratitude getting complicated, and how we’re all basically parenting against YouTube. We close with the Memory Bag game, guessing whose childhood moment is whose, and why telling these stories out loud keeps the people and eras we miss from disappearing.

If any of this hits, subscribe, share the episode with a friend who’ll get it, and leave a review telling us what memory takes you back instantly.

  • The Choices That Expose You
    Oct 19 2026

In this episode of The Heavyweight Collective, a random argument about an above-ground pool turns into one of our most revealing conversations yet. We catch up on life, parenting, work stress, small wins, and travel before breaking down what a real Hawaii trip looks like when you factor in planning, budgeting, communication, and sticker shock.

    Then the game starts.

Would you rather always know when someone is lying or have everyone know when you lie? Free food or free vacations? Lose your phone for a month or lose your car? The answers are funny, petty, practical, and occasionally way too honest.

But the conversation gets deeper when we move into money versus family time, affection versus communication, parenting fears, accountability, and learning to see your parents as imperfect people.

This one is light, funny, and surprisingly revealing. You may come for the debates and leave thinking differently about your own priorities.

  • Talk Yo Shit "Diethrich Shelton"
    Oct 12 2026

In this episode of The Heavyweight Collective, Arizona comedian Dietrich Shelton joins us to break down the real craft behind getting laughs. From his early MySpace-era one-liners to years of stage experience, Dietrich talks about bombing, rewriting material, audience psychology, crowd work, hecklers, and the process of developing a comedic voice that actually feels like your own.

We also explore why viral crowd-work clips may be changing audience behavior, whether people have become more sensitive to comedy, and how social media amplifies reactions that once would have disappeared when the show ended.

Dietrich also previews what’s next, including the Dying For Last Comedy Fest competition in Palm Springs.

This is less about jokes than it is about the work required to make the jokes look effortless.

  • Connected, But Still Alone
    Sep 14 2026

Social media connection can make us feel surrounded while still leaving us wondering who actually knows us.

In this episode of The Heavyweight Collective, we unpack the difference between visibility, engagement, support, and genuine connection. A follow, a like, or a quick encouraging comment can feel good, but does it mean the same thing as someone understanding what you’re actually carrying behind the scenes?

We get into the strange reality of modern support, including why strangers sometimes celebrate your wins louder than people who have known you for decades. At the same time, we recognize the real value online communities can create through gaming, shared interests, resources, and even moments of safety.

Then the conversation shifts into AI, convenience, and authenticity. From travel planning and tech troubleshooting to email help, we talk about where AI genuinely improves life—and where filters, generated images, and automated everything may start pulling us further away from ourselves.

We close with kids, technology, critical thinking, and the challenge of raising a generation that has access to everything but still has to learn what’s trustworthy.

  • Who Are You Becoming?
    Sep 7 2026

Personal reinvention doesn’t require becoming somebody else. It requires becoming more intentional about the choices shaping who you are.

In this episode of The Heavyweight Collective, a viral story about a fake identity becomes the starting point for an honest conversation about healthy reinvention, therapy, emotional regulation, parenting, boundaries, and personal responsibility.

We explore what meaningful change actually looks like through everyday decisions around sleep, food, work, relationships, and self-respect. The conversation also dives into the influence of environment, including your social circle, social media algorithm, entertainment, and even the music you repeatedly consume.

Real change doesn’t usually happen overnight. It happens through small choices that eventually create a different life.

  • The Weight of Adulting - Part 2
    Aug 31 2026

Relationship resentment rarely starts with one huge betrayal. Sometimes it starts after you’ve clearly explained what you need, waited patiently, and watched nothing change.

In Part 2 of this Heavyweight Collective conversation, we continue unpacking the emotional weight of adulthood by getting into communication, neglect, resentment, and the point where “I’m trying” stops feeling like enough. We talk about shutting down, becoming petty, and what happens when people feel unheard for too long.

Then the conversation shifts into parenting and the hidden pressure of fatherhood. We discuss the 24-hour mental load dads carry, fear of failure, and the expectation to provide, protect, and keep stress to yourself. We also challenge whether mothers receive more emotional grace—or actually face harsher judgment because they’re expected to handle everything.

The episode closes with honest reflections on sacrifice, depression, marriage, money, loneliness, therapy, and difficult tradeoffs between love, loyalty, financial stability, and emotional availability.

If Part 1 was about the weight of adulthood, Part 2 is about what happens when that weight starts showing up inside your relationships.

  • The Weight of Adulting - Part 1
    Aug 24 2026

Adult burnout doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like planning birthday parties, paying another unexpected bill, dealing with a broken appliance, and still answering “I’m good” when somebody asks how you’re doing.

Episode 250 of The Heavyweight Collective gets honest about the quiet weight of adulthood. We start with family milestones, work stress, brutal heat, tight finances, and those everyday responsibilities that somehow turn every piece of “free time” into another task.

Then we ask a harder question: when somebody says, “How are you?” who actually earns the honest answer? We talk therapy, burnout, parenting under pressure, and trying to process stress without handing that stress down to your children.

The conversation also turns toward relationships and the invisible work required to keep a household moving. What happens when one person feels like they’re carrying more? How long do you wait for promised change? And when does empathy for someone’s trauma become an excuse for behavior that keeps hurting you?

If adulthood has you feeling stretched thin, you’ll hear yourself in this one.

Millennial adulthood is weird. One minute you're worried about bills, back pain, and getting the kids ready for school. The next, you're passionately arguing about whether boneless wings are just overpriced chicken nuggets.

Episode 249 of The Heavyweight Collective is intentionally lighter as we step away from the heavy conversations and just hang out. We catch up on work stress, birthdays, parenting, money being tight, and all the little reminders that we're definitely not 25 anymore.

    Then the debates begin.

Are boneless wings actually wings? Does cereal qualify as soup? Does returning your shopping cart reveal something about your character? We get into overrated foods, fast-food hype, inappropriate laughter, and the internet clips that somehow never stop being funny.

Then nostalgia takes over as we remember growing up in the '90s and 2000s, MapQuest directions, actual car keys, and the things that once made somebody a "rich kid."

Sometimes you don't need another deep conversation. Sometimes you need good people, ridiculous questions, and a reason to laugh.
