• Episode 5 | Gaslighting – With Shayne
    Oct 7 2021

Hey beautiful people! This episode is a little different as Shayne interviews me for his YouTube channel and I thought it was amazing content for this podcast.

Gaslighting is a form of manipulation that occurs in abusive relationships. It is an insidious and sometimes covert type of emotional abuse where the bully or abuser makes the target question their judgments and reality. Ultimately, the victim of gaslighting starts to wonder if they are losing their sanity.

Gaslighting primarily occurs in dating and married relationships, but it's not uncommon for it to occur in controlling friendships or among family members as well. Toxic people use this type of emotional abuse to exert power over others in order to manipulate friends, family members, and sometimes even co-workers.

Gaslighting is a technique that undermines your entire perception of reality. When someone is gaslighting you, you often second-guess yourself, your memories, and your perceptions.

There Is a video that we played in the start of the podcast  that had great information dealing on gaslighting. Please look at the channel where it came from and also look at the resources available on Psych2go You tube Channel.

  • Episode 4 | Moving On – With Michelle Taylor
    Sep 30 2021

I am so excited to share this conversation with the beautiful soul Michelle Taylor! Michelle and I connected in October 2020 as a fellow woman who escaped the same cult-like organization as I did.

Michelle shared her experience with being immersed in the Jehovah’s Witness culture, how she felt she was never enough or able to live up to their expectations of her and her battle with depression and anxiety.

Eventually when she was 35 she left the organization. She shared her journey through re-establishing herself, connecting to the things that bring her the most joy and breaking down the conditioning from her years as a witness.

  • Episode 2 | My Journey to Inner Trust, Self-Love & Personal Power
    Sep 5 2021

Ngā mihi and welcome to the second episode of The Hikoi Home Podcast! I’m excited to invite you to get to know me more in this is a raw and authentic kōrero about my journey to where I am today.

I share about my background and some of the adversities I have been through on my hikoi home - my walk, my journey.

I was raised in a cult from the age of 8, consistently battling myself and the standards that were set for me. When I eventually exited the cult, I was cut off from my immediate family, left alone to deal with ambiguous grief and religious trauma.

I spoke about my journey of healing from depression, anxiety, feeling like a ‘bad’ mother, my complete lack of self-worth and self-love and continuously blaming myself; to finding a new purpose, connecting with the best version of myself and regaining my personal power.
