• Shawn Chidiac: The Man Behind “My Parents Are Divorced” | Comedy, Success & the Fear of Comfort
    Oct 19 2026

Shawn Chidiac is a UAE-based comedian, content creator, and entrepreneur best known online as My Parents Are Divorced. But behind the accents, viral characters, and sold-out shows is a side of Shawn most people rarely get to see.

In this episode of Luca’s Insight Track, Shawn joins Luca Allam for a conversation that goes far beyond comedy, from growing up with divorced parents, experiencing bullying and overcoming social fears to starting stand-up in small Dubai venues and eventually performing at Dubai Opera.

Shawn opens up about why, despite his success, he still isn’t proud of himself, why he believes “comfort is the death,” and why comparing yourself to others can become destructive. He also shares how his family shaped his outlook on life, business, relationships, and the person he has become.

They also explore the more controversial side of comedy: accents, stereotypes, cultural boundaries, political commentary, freedom of expression, and where comedians should draw the line. For Shawn, humor can be much more than entertainment, it can become a vehicle for communicating deeper truths.

Beyond comedy, Shawn discusses entrepreneurship, talent management, working with family, building the right team, and turning creativity into a sustainable business.

And when asked to leave one final insight, Shawn keeps it simple: try. Because failure isn’t trying something and watching it go wrong, failure is deciding to stop trying.

A funny, honest, and unexpectedly deep conversation about comedy, identity, ambition, fear, success, family, business, and what happens when the person making everyone else laugh gets serious.

  • Off Track: Are We All Just Playing a Character?
    Oct 16 2026

Welcome back to Off Track. No guests, no scripts. Just me, unscripted and unfiltered, exploring human connection and what it really means to Talk Human.

Are you being yourself, or are you simply playing the character you think everyone else wants to see?

This week's reflection comes from my conversation with Salem Khammas, who shared something that really stayed with me about his experience on Dubai Bling. He was determined to be himself rather than play a character. Sounds simple, right? But how many of us actually manage to do that in our everyday lives?

At work, in relationships and even among friends, we often change how we behave because we want to be accepted, loved, valued or simply feel that we belong. I've spent a lot of my own life chasing that validation, including during my years as a CEO, when I sometimes felt I had to behave like the person people expected me to be rather than the person I really was.

In this episode, I explore why we feel the need to perform, how our fear of judgement can disconnect us from ourselves, and why genuine human connection starts with having the courage to show people who we really are.

Because there's a big difference between adapting how you communicate and changing who you are.

So here's my question: Are you adapting to connect, or changing who you are to fit in?

Honest, reflective and straight off my chest and off the cuff.

  • Off Track: What’s The Backstory?
    Oct 2 2026

Welcome back to Off Track, the space where I speak unscripted, unfiltered, and share an insight or two. There are no guests, no scripts.

This week, I reflect on my conversation with Ahlam Bolooki, CEO of the Emirates Literature Foundation, and one simple sentence that stayed with me: “Everyone makes sense once you know the backstory.”

    What’s Their Backstory?

We’re incredibly quick to judge people. Ignorance is easier than curiosity. It’s easier to label someone than to take the time to understand what might actually be going on beneath the surface.

We fill in the gaps using our own experiences, patterns and unconscious biases. We think we know someone’s “type” because they remind us of someone we’ve met before. But their story could be completely different.

And context changes communication. From something as small as a bad journey to a meeting, to pressure at work, challenges at home or experiences stretching all the way back to childhood, the more we understand someone’s backstory, the better we understand the human in front of us.

So who have you judged recently without really knowing their backstory?

Honest, reflective and straight off my chest and off the cuff.

    Sep 28 2026

Ahlam Bolooki, CEO of the Emirates Literature Foundation, joins Luca Allam to explore the future of reading, storytelling and creativity in the age of AI.

She discusses why stories remain essential to the human experience, how parents can nurture a love of reading in children, and whether the next generation will read more or less. Ahlam also reflects on leading a nonprofit organisation, supporting Emirati writers and strengthening the UAE’s literary ecosystem.

Beyond books, she shares personal lessons about motherhood, leadership, grief and the lasting influence of her late mother—including why motherhood taught her more about leadership than any professional course.

An inspiring conversation about protecting human creativity, finding purpose and remembering that every day is a gift.

  • Off Track: Talk Human to Me
    Sep 25 2026

Welcome back to Off Track, the space where I speak unscripted, unfiltered and straight from the heart. No guests, no scripts, just honest reflections shaped by real conversations and real life.

This week's episode is a little more personal. After launching my first book, Talk Human, I found myself thinking about the one idea that sits at the heart of it:

    Connection Starts With You

For most of my life, I thought connection came from other people. Being liked. Being validated. Feeling supported and loved.

I thought reaching the top of my career and becoming a CEO would somehow give me that feeling. Instead, I realised I had become disconnected from myself.

In this episode, I share what happened when I started trying to understand who I was without the title, why reconnecting with myself changed the way I communicate, and why that journey ultimately became Talk Human.

Because great communication isn't just about storytelling, presentations or saying the right words. It's about knowing who you are and giving yourself permission to show up as that person.

And in a world where AI is making our emails, presentations and posts sound increasingly the same, that individuality matters more than ever. The more technology advances, the more our humanity becomes our differentiator. AI might just force us to become more human than ever before.

Honest, reflective and straight from the heart.

Off my chest and off the cuff.
