It was there that he met Consuelo, a young woman who had moved from the impoverished jungles of Peru to Texas, but eventually fled to New York City in search of a better life. Seeing her struggle in the cramped, harsh environment of the sweatshop, Andre began looking out for her. He eventually transformed her life by treating her to a fine dining experience, providing her with stylish clothes, and proposing to her. Consuelo accepted, viewing Andre as her ticket out of poverty, and they eventually welcomed a daughter named Lucecita.

    However, a sudden twist of events threatens to shatter their marriage, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats as Andre struggles between his desire to go straight and the relentless pull of the street life.
