Welcome to the 6th episode of The Jetpack!
Kajetan Wyrzykowski hosted Sophie Slater, founder of a slow-fashion, ethical apparel brand Birdsong.
Sophie has always been invested emotionally in the matters of equality and ethics, and her brand reflects these concerns. In the chat with Kajetan, Sophie deep-dives into the role of clothing in our lives, how the industry needs to wake up from its non-sustainable practices, and what does "ethical" even mean in the case of clothing.
This is also a great opportunity to listen to a successful entrepeneur, who was featured in Bazaar, Vogue, BBC, and Refinery29, among other established publications. As described by The Guardian;
"Birdsong sells itself as the antidote to fast fashion, producing wilfully trend-free designs. In contrast to opaque, multinational fast fashion supply chains, workers are Londoners facing barriers to work, including adults with learning disabilities to refugees, all of whom are paid a living London wage."
