  • Ep 87 - Brandon Talbot On Mindset, Photography, and Building a Creative Life
    Jan 7 2026

On this episode of The Life of Phys Podcast, I’m joined by photographer, videographer, and YouTuber Brandon Talbot a creator who has been openly sharing his photography journey for years while, in his own words, making “incredibly adequate videos for the internet.”

Before photography, Brandon was a former professional volleyball player, NASM Master Trainer, and jiu-jitsu competitor and he brings that same growth mindset, discipline, and long-term thinking into his creative practice. His enthusiasm for learning and improving is infectious.

Brandon is also open about being one of the millions of people living with depression, and in this conversation we talk honestly and responsibly about creativity, identity, consistency, and what it means to keep building even when things feel heavy.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    • Transitioning from athletics to a creative life
    • Developing a growth mindset in photography
    • Falling in love with prints and physical media
    • Building long-term projects instead of chasing quick wins
    • Discipline, consistency, and showing up for the work

This is a conversation about patience, persistence, and learning to play the long game, both in art and in life.

  • Ep 86 - Chasing the Dream: Cold-Water Surf Photography, Resilience, and Creativity with Bryanna Bradley
    Jan 4 2026
In this episode of The Life of Phys Podcast, we sit down with Bryanna Bradley, a Tofino-based surf and outdoor photographer whose work captures the raw beauty, energy, and emotion of sport, nature, and human connection both in and out of the water.Professionally trained as a photojournalist, Bryanna’s creative path has evolved into surf and wedding photography, while keeping documentary storytelling at its core. Her images are shaped by natural light, contrasting color, genuine laughter, and the small, fleeting moments that define real experience. At the heart of her work is a people-first approach rooted in presence, emotion, and authenticity.Bryanna’s journey is one of resilience and transformation. After experiencing a traumatic brain injury (TBI), she embarked on a life-changing hike along the Continental Divide Trail, an experience that reshaped her relationship with photography, nature, and purpose. That chapter led her to cold-water surf photography in Tofino, British Columbia, and a renewed commitment to meaningful, honest storytelling. Her story is powerfully documented in the film Let Me Chase This Dream, and her work continues to inspire others through emotionally rich imagery that explores healing, perseverance, and the connection between humans and the natural world. This conversation explores creativity after trauma, the healing power of nature, documentary photography beyond journalism, and what it means to keep chasing the work that feels true.Visit Bryanna:Instagram: @bryannabradleyphotographyThreads: @bryannabradleyphotographyWeb: www.briannabradley.caSupport The Show:DonatePatreonBuy A Life Of Phys BeanieVisit Me:Instagram: @tysonmartinThreads: @tysonmartin Visit The Show: Instagram: @life.of.physThreads: @life.of.physYouTube: @lifeofphysWeb: www.thelifeofphys.comPodcast Partner: HarloweInstagram: @harlowecreators Threads: @harlowecreators Web: www.harlowe.com Use our discount code Tyson10 at check out and save 10% off your order DISCLAIMER: Some of these links are affiliate links, meaning that if you click it and buy the service or product, they give me a small commission for sending you.
