The Lifeline Project is podcast that explore the science and stories behind the musical, ’Lifeline’. Starting as an educational show for young people, Lifeline explores the human stories past and present that behind Antimicrobial Resistance (or AMR), which is the biggest threat to global health you might never have heard of. Originating in Scotland, it has toured around the USA and will be coming to London in 2026.

The podcast explores this challenging topic through the eyes of scientists, patients, campaigners, writers and musicians. Season one (ep 1-10) is designed to help people understand the problem of AMR, the science and solutions behind it, and how a musical about AMR came to be. Season two digs deeper into the stories of the collaborators we have met along the way.

The Lifeline Project is produced and hosted by Graham Richardson (@wildgreyme), with original music from Lifeline Composer, Robin Hiley (@robin.hiley)

We asked Jon Stokes, scientist and founder of Stoked Bio, to help us write a musical of his story fighting AMR.

    Dec 23 2025

    Transcript available at: https://bit.ly/3Lcb4e2

We asked journalist Misbah Khan to help us writer a musical about her work on AMR...

Misbah is from the Bureau of Investigative Journalism and a member of our advisory board. Her work has included reporting on sick patients from across the world all the way from the boroughs of New York to a conflict zone in Ethiopia. And yet her story all starts in her school with a cow in a textbook.
