The Messiah We Want, the Messiah We Need

“Sometimes we want Jesus to be the Messiah we want, we don’t always want Jesus to be the Messiah we need... the Messiah we need does not simply affirm everything we already believe. He holds us accountable and calls us out, beyond ourselves. [The Messiah we need] challenges us to examine the fears, anxieties, and assumptions that shape how we move through the world."
A sermon preached by the Rev. Megan Allen-Miller at Trinity Cathedral on August 30, 2026
