The Real Stuff is a weekly podcast series hosted by Lucie Fink who has spent the past decade getting curious and creating engaging and educational content for an audience of millions. On this show, you won’t hear your favorite guests talk about things they typically share — rather, Lucie pulls them deep into some of the world’s most taboo topics, asking intensely personal questions about sex, money, and mental health, all in an effort to help you feel less alone as you navigate through the world. And the best part: we want to invite YOU onto the show. Apply to call in as an anonymous guest at luciefink.com/apply. Pop in your voyeuristic headphones, or call in and spill your secrets! • The family with three parents
    Nov 3 2026
Dr. Markus Harwood-Jones went viral on Instagram for explaining his family in one minute, and I needed to hear the WHOLE story. Markus and his husband are raising two kids with their roommate turned co-parent, Hannah. Their second baby was made with Markus’s own eggs and carried by Hannah. It all started in a university library, where Markus met Andrew, the guy who would become his husband. Markus introduced Andrew to his friend Hannah, who needed a roommate, and a few years later she asked Andrew to be her sperm donor. That one question turned into a plan for the three of them to become parents together, and after years of planning, their first baby arrived in 2022. For baby number two, born in June 2025, Markus paused the testosterone he’s taken every day since he was 18 so he could do an egg retrieval. Ontario lets all three of them be listed as parents, and at home they go by Daddy, Papa, and Momo. Before anyone got pregnant, they wrote a co-parenting agreement modeled on Ontario’s guidelines for separating parents. Holidays, schooling, discipline and money all got hashed out while everyone still liked each other, and that document has shaped every big decision since, including their IVF budget and where they moved. They’re also raising their kids with gender-neutral language until each child tells them who they are. A fascinating conversation! In our two-parent house, a friends’ dinner for one of us and a tennis game for the other means a round of texts to see which grandparent is free or if childcare can cover. In Markus’s house, there’s a third adult for that! I loved this episode and hope you do too! • The woman who quit the climate movement (Lucy Biggers)
    Oct 27 2026
Description: A decade ago, Lucy Biggers and I were making videos in the same corner of the internet. She was at NowThis covering the climate movement, interviewing Greta Thunberg and filming one of the first videos of AOC’s run for Congress, while I was at Refinery29 trying five days of zero waste. Then she went quiet for years, and when she came back online she was calling herself a climate realist and posting about how much she loves fossil fuels. A past version of me would never have touched this conversation. I invited Lucy on anyway because I wanted to understand what it’s like to change your identity that drastically and that publicly. She walks me through the moment her beliefs started to crack, which was wearing a plastic mask in 2020 after years of agonizing over straws. She tells me what it felt like to see carbon emissions fall only about 5% during lockdown, and what happened the day she came back to Instagram and lost somewhere between 10,000 and 15,000 followers. We also get into a conversation I didn’t plan on having, about the 2020 Black Lives Matter movement and what each of us took away from that time. I push back on her, she pushes back on me, and we end up far apart on whether we can trust the scientists at the UN. If you feel strongly about climate, I’d argue this is exactly the episode you should listen to, and I want to hear in the comments where you landed. • The woman giving menopause a rebrand (Tamsen Fadal)
    Oct 20 2026
Right out of college, I got accepted into a reporter boot camp in New York, and when they told me I’d be carrying the camera and tripod, driving the van, and filming my own packages in front of burning buildings, I realized I didn’t think I was newsy enough. So sitting down with Tamsen Fadal, an Emmy Award winning journalist and New York Times bestselling author, finally gave me the chance to hear what that path is really like from someone who took it. Tamsen’s first TV job was in Oak Hill, West Virginia in 1994, where she shot her own footage and made $14,000 a year. She worked her way through Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Orlando, spent months working five days a week in Philly and taking a 4 a.m. train to report in New York on weekends, and finally landed at CBS in New York in 2004. Along the way she built a matchmaking business with her then-husband, co-wrote two dating books, and went through a divorce so public that it was in the newspapers sitting on her own newsroom desks. She walked away with $100,000 in credit card debt, and she’s refreshingly open about what she wishes she’d understood about money back then. Then came the night at PIX11 when, during a commercial break in the 10 o’clock news, her whole body flushed with heat and her heart wouldn’t stop racing. She ended up lying on the tile floor of the women’s bathroom to cool down, and after a round of doctors suggesting stress and anxiety, a note showed up in her patient portal: in menopause, any questions? We get into what perimenopause actually looks like, the age she’d start that conversation with your doctor, why she was afraid of hormone therapy after losing her mom to cancer, and the statistic that sent her down the path to two PBS documentaries and her new book, How to Menopause. I’m probably years away from any of this, and I still have her book on my nightstand. Tell me in the comments what you wish someone had told you about perimenopause sooner!
