Graphic Evidence opens The Scorpion File with “The Man They Built,” an investigative look at Mac Gargan before the name Scorpion became part of the public record.
Before the armor, before the tail, before the repeated confrontations with Spider-Man, Gargan was a private investigator drawn into a private campaign against a masked public figure. What followed was not simply a criminal escalation. It was an experiment — funded, authorized, and rationalized by people who believed a human being could be turned into a controllable weapon.
This episode examines the surveillance work, the enhancement procedure, J. Jonah Jameson’s involvement, and the institutional arrogance that helped create one of New York’s most dangerous enhanced offenders.
Was Mac Gargan always a threat waiting to emerge — or did powerful people build the threat themselves?
