  • Mental Health Moment with Heather Hogan
    Oct 5 2020

On today's episode, The Therapist in Training chats with Heather Hogan, a Manhattan-based Transformational Coach and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher whose goal is to enable clients to feel more grounded, less stressed and more equipped to handle life’s unexpected changes.

Heather is also training to become a death doula. This role includes end of life planning,  sitting with the dying, rituals around death, dying and grieving, and supporting the loved ones of the dying. She believes that, "The daily awareness of death is not a burden to be shouldered only by the dying, it is an awareness that is a necessary ingredient for the living to live fully."

Tune in as Heather shares about her own personal highs and lows during the pandemic.

  • Jake Ernst on Motivation, Habits & Creating New Rhythms
    Sep 30 2020

Jake Ernst, MSW RSW is a social worker, psychotherapist and clinical director of StraightUp Health in Toronto, Ontario who says he "gets paid to listen well" and happens to love hearing others share their stories. This was a super fun interview for The Therapist in Training as she and Jake discuss the intersection of positive psychology and mental health professions, the importance of embracing a variety of therapy roles and modalities, an itty-bit of brain science and the fact that motivation and habit formation are NOT SO clear cut because (shocker) we are complex beings.
