But there is Clay's reminiscence of Upper Arlington iconic lacrosse coach Ted Wolford who passed away unexpectedly late last week at 66. He steered the high school to 16 state titles in his 25 seasons at the helm from 1992 to 2016, but had much more impact than just his 460 cumulative wins.

Clay also speaks with Memorial Tournament executive director Dan Sullivan on the eve of the 51st event, which, as he explains to Clay, makes it the 50th anniversary of the tournament that Jack Nicklaus founded on the world-renowned course he designed and built.

As a sports information director, Jerry Emig used hard work and personality to rise through the ranks over the past couple of decades as the lead contact for Ohio State football and for a slate of Hall of Fame coaches and players.

He talks with Tim about his beginnings, even his run as an oiler on a dredging boat in the Mississippi River delta region, before climbing the ladder in the SID world.

That included a time at Temple, where he worked closely with one of the great basketball coaches of our time, John Chaney, from whom he received salient advice at just the right time.

Of course, the way last season ended left a sour taste for Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, but that has just made the off-season work that much more focused as the Buckeyes prep for the toughest schedule in the nation in 2026. Sayin shared his thoughts on that and more as he made a public appearance at the Midwest Card Shop in the arena district on behalf of Panini to promote their World Cup sticker and card exchange and collection in connection to this summer's extravaganza.

The daring pass down the home straight by Felix Rosenqvist gave Pataskala-based Meyer Shank Racing its second - SECOND - Indianapolis 500 victory.

Kudos to Mike Shank and his team for being lead actors in the drama that produced the closest finish in 500 history, Rosenqvist beating Team Penske's David Malukas by 0.0233 of a second.

Much like Bobby Rahal did 40 years ago, as he put Hilliard-based Truesports and terminally ill team owner Jim Trueman on the winner's stand of the world's most famous race. Pataskala-based Dillon Davis talks about all those things, sound from Rahal, his son Graham, who is trying again to gain his first 500 victory, and Pataskala-based Meyer Shank Racing founder Mike Shank, whose three-car team is seeking its second win, including Helio Castroneves, 51, trying to become Indy's first five-time victor. Almost a decade ago then-young attorney Luke Fedlam could see what was coming for major college athletics once players gained NIL and transfer rights, so he jumped into preparation, especially the realm of helping athletes and their parents understand their new rights.

Of course, major college athletics is now well into its wild west phase, which is why Congress has been trying to come up with a bill that "corrects" some of the problems.
