    خواہشوں کی آگ میں جلتی رہو گی کب تلک


    چھٹیوں میں کب تلک ہر سال دلی جاؤ گی

    کب تلک شادی کے ہر پیغام کو ٹھکراؤ گی


    چائے میں پڑتا رہے گا اور کتنے دن نمک

    بند کمرے میں پڑھو گی اور کتنے دن خطوط


    یہ اداسی کب تلک

    کب تلک نظمیں لکھو گی


    رؤو گی یوں رات کی خاموشیوں میں کب تلک

    بائبل میں کب تلک ڈھونڈو گی زخموں کا علاج


    مسکراہٹ میں چھپاؤ گی کہاں تک اپنے غم

    کب تلک پوچھو گی ٹیلیفون پر میرا مزاج


    فیصلہ کر لو کہ کس رستے پہ چلنا ہے تمہیں

    میری بانہوں میں سمٹنا ہے ہمیشہ کے لیے


    یا ہمیشہ درد کے شعلوں میں جلنا ہے تمہیں

    کب تلک خوابوں سے دھوکے کھاؤ گی
