To Vancrux is to vanquish at the crucial time—when challenge meets choice.

  • Why do some problems seem impossible to solve?
    Sep 18 2026

Why do some problems seem impossible to solve? In this episode of The Vancrux Podcast, we explore why certain questions appear to resist every attempt at an answer. Is a problem truly impossible, or are we simply approaching it with the wrong assumptions, tools or way of thinking? We examine the limits of mathematics, logic, science and human reasoning, from Gödel’s incompleteness theorems and the halting problem to paradoxes, undecidability, complexity and the limits of computation. We also explore why some problems are difficult because they are too complex, while others may be impossible in principle—and what happens when we confuse the two. Along the way, we consider whether every well-formed question must have an answer, whether reality itself places limits on what we can know, and whether changing the way we frame a problem can transform something that seems impossible into something solvable. Perhaps the most interesting question isn't “Can this problem be solved?” but “What exactly would it mean for it to be solvable?”

  • Society, Science and Hydrogen — with Alex Tarnava
    Sep 16 2026

What happens when we start questioning not just what we know, but how we know it?

In this episode of The Vancrux Podcast, I sit down with Alex Tarnava for a wide-ranging conversation covering science, epistemology, society, work, gender, philosophy and technology.

We explore some of the problems and limitations within modern science, how we establish what constitutes knowledge, and whether our social structures and ideas about work and gender are serving us as well as we assume.

We also dive into Alex's work with hydrogen technology, including hydrogen water and molecular hydrogen, and the ideas behind his products.

A fascinating discussion about science, society, philosophy, knowledge and the technologies that could shape our future.

  • What do we mean by 'real'?
    Sep 8 2026

What do we mean by “real”? In this episode of The Vancrux Podcast, we question one of the most basic assumptions we make about the world: that we know what reality is. Is something real because we can see, touch or scientifically prove it? What about gravity before we discovered it, dreams that feel completely real, love, money, countries, fictional characters, mathematics or consciousness? We explore realism, idealism, materialism, pragmatism and structural realism, alongside ideas from Descartes, Berkeley, Jung, Anil Seth, John Searle, Eugene Wigner, Max Tegmark and others. We also examine perception, dreams, neuroscience, quantum physics and the possibility that reality is not one single category but a series of different layers—physical, biological, psychological, social and mathematical. Perhaps the better question isn't “What is real?” but “Real in what sense?”
