A preserved WMRN-AM 1490 weather-coverage promotional announcement likely dating to the 1990s, using vivid weather imagery to reinforce the station’s local forecast and information services.

For generations of listeners, local radio provided an immediate source for forecasts, changing conditions, school closings, travel information, and severe-weather updates throughout Marion County and north-central Ohio.

  • Charlie Evers Interviews a Young “Beavis” at the Union County Fair | WMRN-AM 1490 | Marysville, Ohio | Date Unknown
    Oct 6 2026
A humorous WMRN-AM 1490 remote-broadcast segment from the Union County Fair in Marysville, Ohio, featuring Charlie Evers interviewing an unidentified young participant portraying “Beavis.” The exact production and broadcast date have not yet been determined.

During the interview, Evers asks the young participant questions about sports, school, television, personal goals, and the fair while the child remains in character with brief and often awkward responses. The segment also includes a sponsor reference to McWhirter Petroleum Company.

The recording reflects the spontaneous, personality-driven style of WMRN’s community remotes, where broadcasters interacted directly with fairgoers, guests, sponsors, and listeners outside the studio. These appearances helped make the station visible within the communities it served and produced moments that were often more informal than regular studio programming.

Recordings from local fairs and remote broadcasts are especially valuable because they preserve the atmosphere of community events as heard through local radio. They document not only station personalities, but also audience participation, sponsor relationships, humor, and the everyday culture surrounding WMRN’s public appearances.

This recording is presented as part of the WMRN Radio History Archive. Audio quality, crowd noise, production style, pacing, language, and references reflect the era and original live broadcast presentation and are preserved intentionally as part of the historical record.
