Good morning. West Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you'll feel it. That damp, heavy air. We picked up over half an inch of rain overnight. Currently sitting at 61 degrees under gray skies, but that soggy start clears out as we move through the day. Patchy fog lifts by mid-morning. Then Here comes partly sunny skies with temperatures climbing into the low to mid 70s across most of the state. Central West Virginia tops out near 81 degrees. The Northern Panhandle reaches 73. Southern areas hit 74. Light southwest winds keep things pleasant — perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. There's a slight chance of an isolated shower or brief thunderstorm this afternoon. Nothing widespread, just something to keep in mind if you're spending time outdoors. Tonight stays mild with mostly clear skies. Lows drop to the upper 50s to low 60s statewide. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a Slight Risk for severe weather Saturday. Damaging winds are the primary concern. A tornado or two can't be ruled out along the frontal boundary. Some storms could produce hail as well. Charge your phones and secure anything loose outside before tomorrow afternoon. Rain continues Saturday night. Sunday sees lingering showers with highs in the low to mid 60s before drier weather returns Monday. Another system approaches midweek with more rain and possible thunderstorms Wednesday. Good afternoon. West Virginia. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside and you're greeted by 69 degrees and that post-rain dampness. But don't get too comfortable. Because the rain's coming back. In the next 24 hours., A front is stalled just north of us, feeding wave after wave of showers and storms into the state. The Northern Panhandle is already soaked — rain started around noon and won't quit until early Friday morning. Down in Charleston and across central areas, expect rain this afternoon rolling through overnight. Southern West Virginia sees scattered storms firing up around 3 P.M. About those storms. We're under a marginal risk for severe weather today, mainly south of I-70. The threat? Damaging wind gusts as a surface low churns across the Ohio Valley. Keep an eye on the sky this afternoon. Temperature-wise, we're running hot for early March — about 40 degrees above normal. The Northern Panhandle tops out near 69. Central areas climb to 76. Southern spots hit 72. Tonight stays muggy, dropping only to the mid to upper 50s statewide. Flooding remains a serious concern across northern West Virginia and southeast Ohio. Friday brings a slight chance of rain with highs soaring into the low 80s. Saturday? We're talking record territory — 82 degrees with showers and thunderstorms, some possibly severe. A cold front drops us to the 60s Sunday, but the warmth rebounds next week with highs back in the 70s. Stay weather-aware today, folks.
