Two teenage girls vanished from a small Northern California town in 1978.

Seven months later, their remains were found just 90 miles away, but no one realized who they were.

Because investigators believed they were searching for a teenage boy and girl, Kerry Graham and Francine Trimble would remain unidentified for nearly 40 years.

A major legal development has occurred in the case of Anna Kepner, the 18-year-old who died during a family cruise in November 2025.

In this update, I walk through the newly announced federal indictment, what it means that the case has been transferred to adult prosecution, and what we know so far about how the case will move forward. I also explain the earlier sealed proceedings and how this new development fits into the timeline of the investigation.

21-year-old Jonathan Hoang disappeared from his home in Arlington, Washington on March 30, 2025.

Jonathan is on the autism spectrum and developmentally functions closer to an 8-9 year old child. His family says he follows strict routines, asks permission before doing even small things, and had never left home without telling anyone.

But sometime between that evening and the next morning, Jonathan left his home without his jacket, without his phone, and without telling his family.

Three months later, surveillance footage surfaced 40 miles away in Kirkland, Washington showing someone who appears to be Jonathan, walking alone late at night and looking lost.

His family is still searching for answers.

They believe someone knows what happened.
