• Standards Over Comfort: Why Leadership Breaks Without Clarity | Kevin Bender
    Jan 22 2026

    Send us a text

In this episode of Think Like a Leader, I sit down with Kevin Bender to unpack a leadership issue that rarely gets called out directly. Comfort over clarity.

Kevin explains why leadership isn’t about managing personalities, but about setting standards people can trust. We talk about how unclear expectations lead to burnout, frustration, and broken accountability, and why leaders who avoid hard conversations end up creating harder problems for everyone involved.

This conversation reframes leadership as behavior, not authority. It’s about what you tolerate, what you reinforce, and how you show up when clarity is required but comfort would be easier.

If you’re serious about ending amateur leadership and becoming the most dependable person in the room, this episode will sharpen how you think about responsibility, communication, and follow-through.

  • Raising Your Standards Before Life Forces You To | Alan Lazaros
    Jan 15 2026

    Send us a text

This episode sets the tone for Season 2 of Think Like a Leader.

In this conversation with Alan Lazaros, we unpack a hard truth most people avoid. The life you want will always demand a higher standard than the one you’re currently living by.

Alan breaks down why growth is not about motivation or hype, but responsibility. Responsibility to lead yourself first, raise your standards when it’s inconvenient, and become someone others can actually depend on under pressure.

We talk about identity, consistency, and the quiet disciplines that shape leadership long before anyone is watching. This episode is for emerging leaders who are tired of talking about potential and ready to become dependable in real life.

Think Like a Leader exists to end amateur leadership by helping emerging leaders become the most dependable person in any room they walk into.

  • Why I’m Done With Amateur Leadership
    Jan 8 2026

    Send us a text

    This episode is a reset.

As we step into a new year and ahead of Season 2, I wanted to pause and be honest about something I can’t ignore anymore. Amateur leadership isn’t just a workplace problem. It’s a life problem. And for a long time, I was participating in it too.

In this solo episode, I break down what amateur leadership really looks like, why it shows up so easily in our lives, and what it costs us when we let standards slide. I talk openly about where I’ve been reacting instead of leading, avoiding instead of owning, and why I made the decision to stop being casual about becoming dependable.

Using examples from professional sports, leadership psychology, and real life, I define what professional leadership actually means to me now. Not perfection. Not hype. Consistency, preparation, and responsibility.

Think Like a Leader exists to end amateur leadership by helping emerging leaders become the most dependable person in any room they walk into. This episode explains why that mission matters and why it starts with me.

Season 2 begins next week. This is the line in the sand.

This episode is different. No guest. No script. Just the truth.

As we head into a new year, I wanted to pause and be honest about where I’ve been, what God has been doing in my life, and why Think Like a Leader is shifting into its next chapter. Between grad school, work, building a brand, and growing family responsibilities, life has been stretching me in every direction. And instead of pretending I’m holding it all together, I’m choosing to tell the truth about what’s really been happening behind the scenes.

In this episode, I share the moment I realized I couldn’t white-knuckle my way through life anymore and how that clarity led to a new mission for this show.

Think Like a Leader now exists for one purpose
To end amateur leadership by helping emerging leaders become the most dependable person in any room they walk into.

I break down what this mission means, why faith is no longer something I hide, and what you can expect moving forward:
More honesty. More practical leadership psychology. More 2 percent upgrades. More real tools to help you lead when life is messy, loud, inconvenient, and real.

If you’ve felt the show shifting, this episode explains why.
If you’re tired of weak leadership, this episode is for you.
If something in you knows you’re called to lead better, this is your moment.
