About this listen

Welcome to the Third Coast Cycling Podcast with Tim O'Malley and Simone Hussussian. This podcast is about the people, places and events that make Chicago cycling what it is, as well as bits and pieces on riding stronger, smarter and smoother. We are bringing you this podcast because we feel the Chicago area cycling scene is awesome (except in January and February). We want to share our experiences as well and introduce you to the cool people that make up the Chicago cycling scene. Our podcast will cover topics such as...local races, stories, rides and destinations, teams, gear and components, and more as it relates to local cycling in and around Chicago (and yes, we may even dip a toe into Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Iowa).2024 Hygiene & Healthy Living

Welcome to the most recent episode of the Third Coast Cycling podcast where we are joined by Nikki De La Cruz, Katie Cavoto, and Mari Rodriguez. During this episode we talk about the impact being a mother has on someone's cycling experience. Listen in and you will hear about the importance of embracing community, being willing to ask for help, the balance of inspiration and comparison, and a little bit about 'Mom Watts' (the potential power gains from the physiological and haematological changes during pregnancy … yes, 'Mom Watts' is easier to say).

  • Rode to Recovery: Sean Scott
    Oct 10 2025

Join us for a new episode of The Third Coast Cycling podcast. In this episode, we feature Sean Scott, a very active gravel, road, and fat-tire cyclist who talks about his challenges with substance use and his change to a substance-free life. Sean discusses the role cycling played — and continues to play — in his decision to break the cycle and maintain the changes he made, which include a consistent commitment to being on the bike, even if that means 4:50 a.m. Zwift rides.
