  • Drugstore Cowboy
    May 4 2026

It's time to take a sentimental journey to the video store. Our first pic from the cult section is Gus Van Sant's game changing second film, Drugstore Cowboy (1989). Join me as I re-watch with the eyes of a world weary adult, vs the teenaged gaze I first cast on this black comedy about a gang of junkies who rob drug stores, because that's where the drugs are. What did kids internalize about heroin and glamor from stylish films such as this, and does this film pass the Truth & Beauty test? Will drugs kill you? Let's find out!

  • Big Cartel Energy & The Epstein War
    Mar 5 2026

The Epstein War, El Mencho’s Blue Balls, and America’s Next Top Model

I recorded this from my studio apartment in Los Feliz, in the lobotomizing sunshine of psychedelic Southern California, and despite my suntanned brain tissue. I have thoughts.

Thoughts on the BAFTAs disaster during Black History Month. Thoughts on the BBC censoring “Free Palestine” while airing something they absolutely should not have aired. Thoughts on Larry Ellison buying a Hawaiian island, abandoning it, and moving 20 minutes from Mar-a-Lago like the demon he is. Thoughts on the Ellison-Paramount-Warner Brothers megadeal that will make sure every story you consume is owned by like, three guys.

El Mencho is dead. The Jalisco Cartel boss, one of the most wanted men on earth, tracked down through a girlfriend. Very Adriana La Cerva coded. Mexico is burning and none of it touches the Epstein files, which is, I suspect, the whole point.

America and Israel bombed Iran at 4am whilst we all slept. We woke to the killing of little girls. The Epstein War. Look over there guys! Don’t look at what’s happening here.

Oh, and America’s Next Top Model? We always knew it was fucked. Some of us said so at the time. “It was a different era” is not the excuse people think it is.

This one’s behind the paywall, over on Patreon (patreon.com/thisbodypodcast) because frankly it has to be. It’s got Dead Kennedys, it’s got cartel kingpin romance, it’s got me ranting about the Kennedy family’s collective karma while bleeding for the second time in three weeks.

Subscribe to hear the whole thing. I’ll see you after the flood.

  • Night Blooming Jasmine: Transcendental Meditation
    Feb 10 2026

🪷🪷🪷 David Lynch's legacy is forever entwined with the practice of Transcendental Meditation. He was gleefully evangelical about it, describing the practice as a dive within, to the bottom of the ocean of consciousness. But what exactly is TM? Who invented it? How is it different from other forms of meditation? Allow me to enlighten you. 🪷🪷🪷

  • Night Blooming Jasmine: The Black Lodge, The White Lodge, & The Folly of Absolutes
    Jan 11 2026

Happy New Year, Night People. January is a holy month for our community, marking the first anniversary of David Lynch's passing, his birthday, Bowie's birthday, and 10 years since the Black Star passed; and now, one year since the LA fires. Let us reflect. Come with me, wont you, on a journey into the unexamined shadows of the Black Lodge, and it's opposite, the White Lodge, a place where wisdom and peace reside in abundance. Are the notions of these lodges real, like a formica table? Or are we always dwelling on the thresholds of these states of being, passing through and doubling back, like threading a needle, again and again.

  • Decolonize Christmas with Assata Shakur!
    Dec 24 2025

    Merry Christmas from the FBI!

This year we lost a real one (another one), Assata Shakur. Freedom fighter, political refugee, mother, and MOTHER. From growing up under Jim Crow, to the Black Panthers, and on to the Black Liberation Army - from COINTELPRO to Cuba, this episode is about hope in times of chaos. Assata’s story is crazy, it’s unbelievalbe no one has made a blockbuster out of it yet. Rest in Power Assata, and Merry Christmas ALL!

Little bits of “Song For Assata” by Common & Cee Lo Green

“Money’s Too Tight To Mention” - Simply Red, a band I have always deeply disliked, up until this moment. The tides are turning on the old definitions of self, if my softening in Simply Red’s direction is to be trusted.
