I'm a physician. It took me five days without sleep, and a question I couldn't answer, to accept help.

By Friday, February 13th, I hadn't slept in five days. My friend Matt wouldn't leave my side, and he kept asking me to get help.

I kept saying no. I didn't want anyone to think I was crazy, and I was starting to wonder if I was.

This is the story of the afternoon I finally said yes, and of my first night inside a psychiatric hospital.
