First, we speak to Director and Producer, Erica Tanamachi and Executive Producer, Diane Quon, about their documentary Home Court. CAAM-funded Home Court is a story of an All-American baller Ashley Chea following her pursuit of college level hoop dreams. In the three years this film follows her, we witness the highs and lows of her Cambodian immigrant family’s experiences in America. It will have its Bay Area premiere on May 12th at 12:30pm at the Great Star Theater in San Francisco as part of CAAMFest 2024. We then talk to Thúy Trần who is the Festival and Exhibitions Director of CAAMFest about this year’s program.     In this episode, we bring you a conversation with Hoi Leung, the Deputy Director of the Chinese Culture Center. Hoi oversees the internal culture, programs and operations of the organization. Leung was born in Hong Kong and immigrated to the US in 2004. Previously, Leung was the Curator at CCC for 4 years, where she established a distinct practice specializing in Asian diasporic contemporary art, developing emerging artists, and designing community engagement in immigrant neighborhood settings. Leung is an emerging leader in the field as she devotes her unique background in artist support and community curation into building a healthy, sustainable, and imaginative arts ecosystem.

    In this episode, we bring you a conversation with Connie Zheng, a Chinese-born artist, writer and filmmaker based out of xučyun / Oakland, California. Connie is a former Artist-in-Residence at 41 Ross - The Chinese Culture Center’s exchange platform for emerging API artists to develop work and expand on community-based practices located in SF’s Chinatown. Projects such as large-scale maps, speculative seed exchanges, seed-making workshops, and experimental films are strategies for navigating diasporic memory, the continued weight of history and the possibilities for collective imagining amidst ongoing and future ecological transformations.

    In this episode, we talk to the Bay Area’s own Eric Arnold who has covered hip-hop locally and nationally for over 30 years. Formerly the managing editor of 4080 and columnist for The Source, he chronicled hyphy’s rise and fall, co-curated the Oakland Museum of California’s first hip-hop exhibit in 2018 and won a 2022 Northern California Emmy Award for a mini-documentary on Oakland’s Boogaloo dance culture. He is a contributing editor for That’s My Word, KQED's series on the history of Bay Area hip-hop.
