Kristi’s and her husband both worked, were raising their 3 kids, and split their household duties. When her husband died suddenly, she realized that she had no idea what was going on with their finances. She had to search through file cabinets, reset passwords, and it was a big mess. The reason I wrote Uncommon Sense was to impact youth and I could not have found a better cohort. As an Academic Advisor, Akindele encourages African American students to see themselves in a different light as far as their education, access to capital, and understand financial literacy from a US perspective. In his former career he was a teacher and administrator for many years, and is now a Student Career Coach, a Business Developer, and co-manages an Association. His impact to these students is priceless. Akindele wants to empower his students to graduate, have career goals, international goals, and to impact their community with these values. His vision is to link business, government and technology resources between Africa and the US. He wants to position a city, county, and community to understand why they should make a foreign directed investment in African based businesses.
