  • Holy Resistance | The Janky Basket Insight
    Dec 28 2025

✝️ Ever feel like your life is a "janky" grocery basket? You’re pushing forward, but you’re met with constant resistance, friction, and frustration at every turn. Often, our first instinct is to abandon the cart or blame God for the struggle. But what if that resistance isn't a sign to quit, but a gentle reminder from the Holy Spirit to stay connected to the Vine?

In this episode, we dive into the concept of Holy Resistance and the raw, often misunderstood practice of lament. Building on our previous conversation about God as our "Chief HR Officer," we explore how to bring our unfiltered grievances, longings, and losses directly to Him. Using the "wild" language of Psalm 109 and the "Complain, BUT..." pattern found throughout the Psalms, we’ll learn that God doesn't want our polished, "edifying" versions of the truth—He wants our hearts. He can handle your rawest emotions; the only thing He asks is that you keep the cart rolling and trust Him to act.

📖 "Help me, LORD my God; save me according to your faithful love so they may know that this is your hand and that you, LORD, have done it." — Psalm 109:26–27 (CSB)

📖 "Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act." — Psalm 37:5 (CSB)

Today’s reflection invites you to ask:

    • Where are you currently experiencing "resistance" in your life, and have you been trying to navigate it on your own or through the Vine?

    • Are you grumbling about your situation to others, or are you lamenting to God with the expectation that He will act?

    • What "vile truths" or deep frustrations have you been hiding from God that you need to finally air out in His presence?

  • Special Episode on Race for Fuller
    Dec 17 2025

This is an Apple Podcasts exclusive episode that I was very hesitant to post. Why was I hesitant to post you ask?

    Well it's about race...and that's a hot topic.

But I had to record it for an assignment in my recent practical theology class at Fuller Theological Seminary. I won't get into the minutiae of the assignment but the general goal was to create a podcast with my group mates - each contributing - in which we discussed race and/or ethnicity.

While I can't share the full episode out of respect for my group mates' privacy, I hope you enjoy my contribution that I get to share here on Voice and Vine. But if you didn't enjoy, that's ok too.

  • Trusting God's Plan Over Your Map | Don't Close Your Fist on the Seed
    Oct 28 2025

✝️ Are you so focused on the destination that you've stopped enjoying the journey? We're often so desperate to get to the "next thing"—the next goal, the next step, the next exit—that we miss the beauty of God's creation right in front of us. We pull out our own "map" and try to force the plan, losing sight of the path He's laid.

In this off-script and reflective episode, I share a personal story from a recent trip to Garvan Woodland Gardens, where a simple moment of trying to find the exit revealed a profound spiritual truth. We'll explore what happens when God plants a "seed" (a dream, a vision, a longing) in our hearts. Do we clench our fist around it, trying to protect it and control its growth? Or do we keep our hands open, allowing Him to provide the light, the water, and the increase in His perfect time?

📖 "I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow." — 1 Corinthians 3:6 (CSB)

📖 "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." — Proverbs 3:5-6 (CSB)

Today's reflection invites you to ask:

    • What "map" or "destination" are you so focused on that it's causing you to miss the beauty of the journey God has you on right now?

    • What "seed" (a dream, a calling) has God given you that you've been clenching your fist around, trying to control or protect?

    • What would it look like for you to truly open your hand and trust God to be the one who gives the increase, even if it takes years?

  • Keep Your Head on a Swivel, Or Not? | God Runs HR
    Sep 21 2025

✝️ Ever feel like you have to keep your head on a swivel—constantly anxious, vigilant, and bracing for the next threat? Do you look at the seemingly easy lives of the arrogant and wonder if your faithfulness is in vain? This constant state of survival mode steals our joy and makes us question God's fairness.

In this episode, we find profound rest in the wisdom of Psalm 73. We'll dismantle the exhausting "head on a swivel" mindset and explore a powerful new perspective: God is the supreme HR Officer of our lives. Discover how He manages our ultimate "payroll," "benefits," and "employee relations," freeing us from the burden of envy and the need to control our own safety. Learn how entering His presence is the key to understanding the destiny of the wicked and finding security in our own.

📖 "When I tried to understand all this, it seemed hopeless until I entered God’s sanctuary. Then I understood their destiny." — Psalm 73:16-17 (CSB)

📖 "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart, my portion forever." — Psalm 73:26 (CSB)

Today's reflection invites you to ask:

    • In what areas of your life are you "keeping your head on a swivel," and how is it costing you your peace?

    • How does viewing God as your "supreme HR Officer" change the way you handle workplace grievances, career anxieties, or envy?

    • Like Asaph, what "hopeless" situations do you need to bring into God's sanctuary to gain His perspective and understanding?

  • Lectio Divina | Portion Pt. 2
    Aug 3 2025

✝️ This is an invitation to a deeper relationship with God through His Word. In this episode, I’m introducing you to the ancient practice of lectio divina, or “divine reading.” It's a way of reading the Bible not for information, but for transformation—a way to listen for the living voice of God. I'm sharing my personal journey with this practice and how it brought the powerful truth of Psalm 16 and Psalm 17 to life, revealing God as my ultimate portion and illuminating the deep revelations I received through this practice.

Today’s reflection invites you to ask:

    • Are you approaching the Bible with an open heart, ready to hear from God?

    • How can the practice of lectio divina help you hear God’s voice in a new way?

    • What does it mean for God to be your "portion," and how can this bring you peace and security?

📖 “Lord, you are my portion and my cup of blessing; you hold my future. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.” — Psalm 16:5-6 (CSB)

📖 “With your hand, Lord, save me from men, from men of the world whose portion is in this life: You fill their bellies with what you have in store; their sons are satisfied, and they leave their surplus to their children.” — Psalm 17:14 (CSB)

📖 “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.” — Psalm 119:105 (CSB)
