• 7: Married and Marooned
    Jul 30 2020
Allen and Sofie were married on a lovely sunny day in Goa in February this year. Everything seemed on course... the wedding, a honeymoon and beginning a brand new chapter of their life in Germany.

And then all hell broke loose with the global Coronavirus outbreak. Allen and Sofie speak about the range of emotions and exasperations which they endured, while they were trapped in the lockdown in the Western Indian state of Goa, unable to leave and unable to venture out on their collective journey after they entered wedlock.

After the initial shock, the couple made the most of the host of restrictions which accompanied the lockdown. For example, in the podcast Allen speaks about how he managed to learn German during the months in isolation; a key skill vis a vis employment opportunities in the country he is migrating to.

The couple spoke to this podcast days before they embarked on their much-delayed journey to Dusseldorf, after having survived the lockdown.

  • 5: Dialling 'H' For Help
    May 17 2020
Very often, a crisis throws up unlikely saviors. In Goa’s battle against the Covid-19 crisis, the Goa Humanitarian Helpline was one such savior. The Helpline is a network of a diverse group of individuals, who have volunteered to form this unusually tenacious chain, which has come to the aid of thousands of folks, who had been driven to the end of their wits and food, due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.

In this podcast episode which has been brought to you by Fifteen 73 Media, Vijaya Pais tells us about how the helpline experiment came to be and how it has helped put food on the table to those who needed it. She also speaks about how starvation is not just a phenomenon in which people suffer in districts and states far, far away, but that it also lives right in our midst.

And in case you suffer any lockdown blues here's the number to call: 08047192600

  • 3: Thinking about Van Gogh's Yellow
    Apr 25 2020
Grounded at home due to the lockdown, well known former RJ, MC and content writer Mark Rocha brings a touch of poetry and a blaze of bright yellow to contrast these bleak times.

In this podcast, Mark tells us how he has been dabbling around his house during the lockdown and takes time to read out some poetry from two published collections 'Fallen' and 'Resurrection' which he has authored and self-published. He also tries to think aloud why Vincent Van Gogh was obsessed with yellow, so much so that the Dutch painter actually ate the color to really understand it better. Mark tries his best, but in vain to analyze the obsession. Would you like to give it a shot? Listen to Mark's take first on this podcast.

  • 1: The Story of Goa’s First COVID-19 Survivor: Edgar Julian Remedios
    Apr 11 2020
This episode hosted by Mayabhushan Nagvenkar features Edgar Julian Remedios, a US-based mechanical engineer and a son of Goa's Saligao village. Till a few days ago, Edgar was one of the seven COVID-19 positive patients quarantined in isolation at the ESI hospital in Margao, the Indian coastal state's only designated hospital for COVID-19 positive patients.

Hours after the podcast was recorded, Edgar tested negative for the second time and has been allowed to leave the isolation facility.

The story of Goa's first COVID-19 patient to be successfully treated, is a significant and a moving account and the first in the list of Lockdown logs.

A note for our listeners; this conversation was recorded over telephone, which explains the relatively poor audio quality.
