    Black Excellence in Healthcare: White Coats & Real Talk Podcast Episode #16: Shaping Smiles & Futures: The Journey of a Black Woman Orthodontist Join Dr. Angel White as she sits down with Dr. Morgan Rigsby, a Board-Certified Orthodontist currently practicing in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Rigsby was born in Jackson, Mississippi, and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland during her elementary school years. From Baltimore, she moved to DC, where she obtained her bachelors degree from Howard University. She then went off to Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, for her masters in health sciences and DDS degree. Her interest in Orthodontics brought her to the University of Louisville, where she received her Master of Science in Dentistry and Orthodontic training. Dr. Rigsby is the first African American female graduate of ULSDs advanced education program in orthodontics. During her time at UofL, Dr. Rigsby was inducted into Phi Kappa Phis UofL Chapter. Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest honor society in the United States, representing the best and brightest from all academic disciplines. Apart from loving the field of Orthodontics, she enjoys exploring numerous art scenes and staying active. While in Chicago, she has been enthralled by the views, diversity, and welcoming atmosphere that the city has to offer. Dr. Morgan Rigsby is dedicated to providing the highest quality orthodontic care while prioritizing service to all mankind. She hopes that her journey can inspire those in our community to pursue their passion and never stop dreaming.     Chris Ward, MSW, LCSW, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, educator, and community advocate with over 13 years of experience serving individuals and families across Lake County, Indiana, and Cook County, Illinois. He provides compassionate mental health services as the Lead Behavioral Therapist, supporting adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Chris is also an Adjunct Professor at Ivy Tech Community College, where he teaches courses in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, and Communication. He earned his bachelors and masters degrees in social work from Governors State University and an Associate of Arts degree from Prairie State College. Guided by empathy and commitment to service, Chris is dedicated to empowering students and strengthening communities through education and mental health advocacy.
