So happy to have Christine Rice (photosbyricecakes) on the podcast for Episode 47!

Christine is a wildlife photographer based out of Ontario, Canada. She loves traveling to Newfoundland for wildlife photography where she hosts caribou and seabird photography workshops. She also provides one-on-one online mentoring and local guiding.

When not consumed with photography, she works as veterinary technician and has many years of experience in companion animal medicine, small animal emergency care, and wildlife rehabilitation.

Christine’s goal is to use her photography to inspire others to care about nature in their own backyards. She is passionate about creating supportive spaces for women and loves teaching people how to create beautiful wildlife images.

Trained as a visual artist, Sue has lived in Jackson, Wyoming, for over 40 years and has gained recognition as a nature photographer, painter, potter, and designer of nature-related attire. She has used the Tetons as her basecamp for travel to far-flung corners of the globe like the Serengeti, the Arctic, South Georgia Island, Uganda, Patagonia, and Antarctica. For over 20 years Sue was a field assistant with her mentor, wildlife photographer Tom Mangelsen, and co-leader and organizer of numerous photographic expeditions to places like coastal Alaska and Kenya.

We discuss Sue’s life-long pursuit of adventure and exploration in nature, her relationship with Grizzly 399 and the Emmy-nominated documentary, her adventures guiding people around the world, storytelling in an image, the importance of fun and joy in photography, and so much more.

Cassia Rivera is a North Carolina wildlife photographer, conservationist, filmmaker, and storyteller. She is fighting each day for wild spaces in her state and collaborates with government agencies, NGOs, citizen scientists, and conservationist communities to impact increased habitat connectivity.

She collaborated to create the documentary short film, Right of Passage. The film’s mission is to raise awareness in order to support the conservation efforts surrounding safer wildlife corridors for the critically endangered red wolf and all wildlife in North Carolina.

As a board member of Champions for Wildlife and the Executive Director of the North Carolina Wildlife Corridor, Cassia’s passion is contagious and inspiring. We had such an enlightening discussion, and I hope you enjoy it!
