    She shares how connecting with Mother Earth is healing. Being outdoors and touching the ground, grass, dirt, or sand with your bare feet can help you feel grounded. This practice of connecting to the earth’s surface lifts your mood and clears away the negativity carried throughout the day.

    Elisa also explains how a Latino ancestral system has ceremonies honoring the elements - earth, water, air, and fire.

    The history of Native Americans, Aztecs, Mayans, and the cosmos helps us know more about our roots and connection to life.

    In this episode, Elisa Gallegos discusses tools that support our journey of healing—depending on what this means for each of us.

    We often ask, “Now what?”, we can choose what calls us. The important thing is whether we want to choose to walk the path of health, healing, and wholeness.

    As adults, we can continue to learn and connect with people who share knowledge about wellness, because our learning never stops. As adult women, we now experience a sense of freedom and liberty, and we can continue learning to walk the journey we choose.

    When Elisa was deciding whether to stay or leave the system where she worked—one that was making her physically sick—her good friend and coworker told her in Spanish:
    "Dale gracias que te están liberando antes de lo esperado."
    English: “Give them thanks for liberating you sooner than you expected.”

    This statement highlights how mindset can shape our life’s journey. Love this!

    • Elisa’s way of praying, while still respecting her mom’s beliefs.
    • What “healthy living” really means, and how it looks different for each of us.

    Elisa is a brilliant soul of life who shares how we are our own medicine!

    We can choose to reach out, feel what we’re feeling, and try different approaches—whether with support from others or through traditional tools like music, art, movement, and ancestral practices such as limpias, Aztec, Mayan, and cosmic healing.

    We have the ability to step into these practices and trust how they work, even if we are not familiar with them. It’s important to stay open to receiving their wisdom.

    When walking or working through life and things become heavy, we can counterbalance with a walk, a hike, or sometimes simply silence. There are many tools we can use to return to our authentic self.

    About Elisa Gallegos

    I am the proud daughter of Mexican immigrants—a proud Chicana born and raised in San Mateo County—and a devoted mother, daughter, and partner in a blended family with three beautiful children. I am bilingual and bicultural, and I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of SF, along with a Public Health Nurse Certificate.

    With over 33 years of experience as a nurse, 20 of those are rooted in community health and health education, and the last decade in public health—I bring a deep commitment to equity, social justice, and culturally grounded care. My work is especially dedicated to uplifting and serving Latino communities through holistic, accessible, and culturally responsive healing practices.

    My modalities are rooted in an open heart and open mind, meeting people where they are and honoring the wisdom they carry. I blend Western medicine with integrative and ancestral approaches to support whole-person healing mind, body, and spirit working toward comprehensive restoration and balance.

    Offerings include Diabetes education and chronic disease management consultations, Health education on a wide range of topics that promote wellness and prevention, STD education and supportive conversations that reduce stigma and increase knowledge, Outdoor hiking support as a pathway to healing, connection, and overall well-being and Health coaching that is empowering, person-centered, and equity-informed

    I support women’s healing and empowerment circles, facilitate community conversations on vital issues, and volunteer with college students, youth, parents, and families to cultivate intergenerational learning, healing, and leadership. I walk this path guided by the belief that community, culture, and connection are the roots of wellness and equity. I am honored to co-create spaces of healing, learning, and liberation alongside fellow healers and community builders. As an outdoor advocate, I am committed to protecting Mother Earth, who sustains and heals us.

    Have you ever asked yourself this question before?

    Are you wondering why you’d even have to ask yourself this question - even if you are confident, content, with who you are today?

    I think there will always be a time when we find ourselves reflecting on who we are either to reminisce or when we are given a different path in our life and we need to decide on what is best for us.

    When you are honest with yourself it can change everything! It helps you come to an honest decision on your values and what matters most to you. Finding what matters for you will enrich your life.

    When I ask myself this question, it gives me clarity and helps me understand what is true for me. It gives me clarity and peace to know myself better.
