  • Scott Peterson: Why Did the Bay Hold the Answer for 110 Days?
    Oct 16 2026

For 110 days, nobody could say where Laci Peterson was. Then, on two April days in 2003, the San Francisco Bay answered. Part 3 of our 5-part Scott Peterson series: the recovery and the arrest.Divers and sonar crews searched the waters off the Berkeley Marina all winter and found nothing — not on Laci's February 10 due date, not when police reclassified the case as a homicide on March 5. On April 13, 2003, a couple walking their dog found a baby boy on the Richmond shoreline. The next day, a jogger found a woman about a mile away at Point Isabel — a few miles north of the marina where Scott said he went fishing. On April 18, DNA confirmed Laci and Conner, and that same day detectives arrested Scott Peterson in La Jolla: hair dyed blond, about $15,000 in cash, four phones, two driver's licenses, and camping gear in his car. Prosecutors said flight. His family said golf. Part 4 — the trial — drops tomorrow.🔔 A new YS Crime episode drops every single day — SUBSCRIBE and turn on notifications.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro0:27 Cold Open: 110 Days of Silence1:09 The Winter Search of the Bay2:01 A Due Date With No Answer2:52 April 13: The Shoreline Discovery3:33 April 14: One Mile Apart4:21 DNA Answers: Laci and Conner5:12 The Same Day: An Arrest5:58 Arrested in La Jolla6:40 Flight Risk — or a Golf Trip?7:28 Arraigned: Not Guilty8:14 The Board Is Set for Trial9:06 Subscribe — Part 4 Tomorrow🎧 Can't watch? • Scott Peterson: Why Did He Say He Lost His Wife Before She Vanished?
    Oct 15 2026

He told the woman in Fresno he had lost his wife — two weeks before Laci Peterson was reported missing. Part 2 of our 5-part Scott Peterson series: the Amber Frey chapter.Amber Frey was a Fresno massage therapist and single mother who was introduced to Scott Peterson on November 20, 2002 and told he was unmarried. On December 9 he told her he had "lost" his wife — the same day he bought the fishing boat. On December 30, after recognizing him in the coverage of Laci's disappearance, Frey went to Modesto police herself and agreed to record his calls. Those recordings captured the New Year's Eve Paris lie — told while he stood at Laci's candlelight vigil — and the January 24, 2003 press conferences that changed the case. Laci was still missing. Part 3 drops tomorrow.🔔 A new YS Crime episode drops every single day — SUBSCRIBE and turn on notifications.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro0:12 Cold Open: The Other Life0:56 Amber Frey: The Woman in Fresno1:38 He Said He Was Never Married2:19 December 9: Lost — And a Boat3:03 Two Christmas Parties, One Day3:40 She Recognized Him — And Called Police4:23 She Agreed to Record Him5:05 The Paris Lie, Told at Her Vigil5:47 Different Kinds of Loss6:36 The Family Learns — January 247:20 Still Missing: What the Bay Holds🎧 Can't watch? • Scott Peterson: Why Did the Dog Come Home Without Her?
    Oct 14 2026

Eight months pregnant, she vanished on Christmas Eve — and the dog she walked every morning came home without her. Part 1 of our 5-part Scott Peterson series: the vanishing of Laci Peterson.Laci Peterson was 27 and eight months pregnant with a son, Conner, when she disappeared from her Modesto, California home on December 24, 2002. Her husband Scott said he spent the day fishing alone in San Francisco Bay. That night, witnesses say, he told people he had been golfing. A neighbor had already found the couple's dog loose in the street — leash still on. A city searched. Police watched. And nobody yet knew about the woman in Fresno.
