• How To Teach Open-Level Yoga Classes
    Feb 3 2026

This week's episode of Yoga Insider is all about teaching open-level yoga classes with clarity.

Together, we'll explore how to define your role as a teacher in these settings, why offering a clear starting point for all of the poses and techniques you share is crucial, and how communicating criteria for pose progressions helps your students make better decisions for themselves.

This episode is for yoga teachers who want to lead with clarity and cultivate student agency in open-level classes - without feeling overwhelmed in the process.

    Jan 27 2026

This week on Yoga Insider, we're wrapping up our 4-part series on sustainability for yoga teachers and zooming out to take a look at the bigger picture.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why diversifying your income can create stability and choice.
    • The importance of leaving room to evolve instead of boxing yourself into a single niche.
    • How thoughtful collaboration can reduce isolation and support longevity in your work.
    • Why finding a steady rhythm takes time and the hidden work you don't see behind teachers who have found their teaching groove.

    Jan 20 2026

Welcome back to Yoga Insider! We're starting off 2026 with a 4-part series inspired by sustainability. Every week in January, I'm sharing an episode that explores what it means to have a sustainable career as a yoga teacher. While I don't promise to have all the answers, I am committed to asking questions that encourage that thoughtful reflection. Together, we'll consider how to make a living doing work that you genuinely care about while prioritizing your personal wellbeing.

Part 3/4 of this series is meant to inspire small, but impactful changes that you can make this year to help take back your time and energy. These shifts are meant to meet you where you're at, and can be implemented right away without having to overhaul your teaching schedule.

  • Part 2/4: Your Most Sustainable Year as a Yoga Teacher
    Jan 13 2026

Welcome back to Yoga Insider! We're starting off 2026 with a 4-part series inspired by sustainability. Every week in January, I'm sharing an episode that explores what it means to have a sustainable career as a yoga teacher. While I don't promise to have all the answers, I am committed to asking questions that encourage that thoughtful reflection. Together, we'll consider how to make a living doing work that you genuinely care about while prioritizing your personal wellbeing.

Part 2/4 of this series is all about acknowledging your capacity. I like to think of capacity as something fluid that ebbs and flows in seasons, and by working with it rather than against it, we can keep showing up as yoga teachers without burning out. Feel free to grab a pen and paper for this episode, and pause the show to journal or write down your reflections.

  • A Snapshot in Time: A Year-End Reflection
    Dec 30 2025

In this chatty episode, I'm reflecting on how podcasting mirrors yoga. I'm talking about a philosophy I've adopted recently that helps me keep showing up, while releasing attachments to how my work is received. If you've been following along for the Yoga Insider journey so far, thank you. It truly means so much to know that there is a growing community of yoga teachers around the world on the other side of this podcast.

  • How to Choose the Right Continuing Education Training in 2026
    Dec 23 2025

In this episode of Yoga Insider Podcast, I'm talking about what meaningful continuing education looks like for yoga teachers, and why ongoing study is part of your professional responsibility.

    You'll learn:

    - Why depth (not novelty) is what differentiates great yoga teachers.
    - What to look for when choosing a continuing education training.
    - Why ongoing study supports credibility and long-term leadership.

If you're in the Vancouver area, I'm hosting a YACEP-accredited training called Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers, alongside my colleague Jessica Bugra (Ayurvedic Counselor) on January 17th and 18th, 2026. Register Here.

    Training Includes:

    - 2 x 2-hour morning yoga practices where you’ll have the opportunity to embody key principles of Ayurveda. If you’re missing those long morning practices you experienced during your YTT, you’re going to love this!

    - Lectures and discussions based on key principles of Ayurveda and their practical application to Hatha yoga, including doshas and circadian and seasonal rhythms.

    - An introduction to the history of ayurveda.

    - Understanding Doshas and Mapping Your Dosha - facilitated by Jessica Bugra (Ayurvedic Counselor)

    - How to integrate the universal wisdom of Ayurveda into group classes, private sessions, progressive series, and workshops (while honoring your scope-of-practice).

    - How to adapt your group yoga classes based on seasons, and how to create your own yoga series based on the natural elements.

    - Each day ends with grounding practices - yoga nidra, sound bath, tapping meditation.

This weekend training is designed for yoga teachers, curious students, and allied health professionals who are seeking an introduction to the basic principles of ayurveda and how its practical applications can be used to find a more balanced life - specifically through the lens of hatha yoga. Yoga teachers will learn how to skillfully integrate the universal wisdom of Ayurveda into their group classes in order to adapt offerings based on seasons, as well as how to create progressive yoga series based on the key principles of Ayurveda. This is an opportunity to expand your knowledge and understand the intersection between yoga and Ayurveda - two complimentary Vedic sciences.

Jessica Bugra is an Ayurvedic counselor, registered acupuncturist, life coach and yoga teacher. In this training, she will provide you with an introduction to the basic principles of ayurveda, guide you through an activity to help you understand your unique dosha, and share insights on what the wisdom of ayurveda tells us about circadian and seasonal rhythms.

Alexandria Waycott is an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 500), with over 14 years of teaching experience. She runs 200-hour yoga teacher training programs and advanced continuing education courses. She will take you through 2-hour morning practices where you’ll have the opportunity to embody key Ayurvedic teachings. Additionally, she will discuss how to integrate foundational principles of Ayurveda into your classes, and how to build progressive series and workshops while honoring your scope-of-practice.

  • Growth, Discernment & the Right Kind of Feedback
    Dec 16 2025

In this episode of Yoga Insider, I'm sharing a personal reflection on how an unexpected disruption (getting caught in a flood!) became a powerful lesson on acceptance and community support.

I'm also exploring an essential topic for yoga teachers: How to collect feedback and testimonials in a way that genuinely supports your growth.

Drawing from 14 years of experience working as a yoga teacher, I'm sharing the following insights:

    • Why collecting feedback should be part of your long-term strategy (especially if you're an independent yoga teacher).
    • How to ask better questions in order to collect feedback intentionally.
    • How to interpret feedback without letting it undermine your confidence.
    • The difference between skill-based feedback and feedback rooted in personal preferences, and why not all feedback carries the same weight.
    • Learn to identify meaningful patterns through feedback that may highlight your strengths and edges.
    • How to ethically collect testimonials without bribery, prizes, or giveaways.

While we're on the topic of feedback... if you've been enjoying Yoga Insider and you find this free resource valuable, please consider leaving a review! This is a meaningful way to support my work. Thank you!
