We are nowhere near as different as we think we are, and all those sophisticated theories which suppose that we may have different needs depending on where we derive or why we may date or work differently together actually may be be hiding the true essence of how we function. I explore the issue in this episode.

Is a society which lacks authority doomed to be chaotic? Are we simply seeking attention by resisting the establishment? Does being anti-establishment make you a contrarian? And was I actually making trouble by wearing a warm hat? I explore these questions in this episode.

  • How children develop virtue with Susanne Gervay
    Dec 13 2025

In this episode, I had the great pleasure of speaking with Susanne Gervay, an accomplished Australian author and speaker whose experiences have inspired her life's journey of helping young people grow and develop resilience, compassion, and determination. I reveal the significance of Susanne's work in my own youth, before discussing the importance of young people's minds in developing virtue. With the still-held assumption that children are just chaotic tyrants who inherently are in need of fierce, fighting discipline, Susanne and I explore how proper nurturance of children helps them to reveal the power of their minds often hidden.

To learn about Susanne and find her excellent literature for young people, visit her website: www.sgervay.com

  • The "both sides" argument settled: The actual psychology of politics

In this episode, I explain why thinking in terms of politics instead of objective truth is so illogical and destructive. I demonstrate that even though the truth about certain matters may be complicated, politically-motivated figures often claim to know it with absolute certainty, but without regard for their own double standards and fallacies. Ultimately, what we need to learn is that being truthful means asserting ideas for the right reasons and not simply choosing what feels easiest to believe — and that the effort this takes in real life often leads our minds to take shortcuts.
