In a twist on the usual setup of these kinds of episodes, in this one we already know whodunnit... the mystery is for you guess who the victim was-- the kind, gentle Mary Moore? Or the clever, curious Maria Marten?

Either way, both of these young women's lives were tragically and permanently altered thanks to the callousness of one man. But they existed, and they deserve to have their story told.

GENEPIL, the last Mongolian Queen Consort. A little later in the historical record than usually catches my fancy, her fascinating tale has sparked an interest in Mongolian history for me that I am super stoked to explore further, probably in future episodes! . Note: in the episode I'm unsure if Genepil is literally a descendant of Ghengis Khan or not (though I suspect she is) and I have subsequently confirmed that YES, she definitely was.
