  • S2E1 - Silence at Work: Gaslighting, Imposter Syndrome, and RSD
    Jan 20 2026

    Many language professionals work alone.
    We are freelancers.
    We work from home.
And much of our professional connection now happens online.

In this episode, I explore what happens when silence in professional spaces is not random, but patterned.

When people are clearly active but repeatedly silent towards the same person, it can start to trigger self-doubt. Over time, this can feed gaslighting, imposter syndrome, and strong emotional responses, especially for neurodivergent professionals and those who experience rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD).

    This episode explores:
    • Why silence at work can have such a strong impact
    • How patterned silence can quietly fuel self-doubt
    • Why this can feel more intense for neurodivergent people
    • Practical tools to stop turning uncertainty into self-blame

None of the tools in this episode fix silence.
They fix what silence does to you.

This is not about blaming people.
It is about protecting your energy and your sense of self.

After a quiet stretch, I return with a gentler rhythm and a renewed sense of purpose.

This episode marks my brother’s first heavenly birthday and turns grief into purpose through reflection and language. I talk about emotional misinterpretation, Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria (RSD), and how silence can sometimes speak the loudest.

🎙 Big Feelings: Emotional Regulation and the ADHD Brain

Emotional regulation is more than just staying calm. It is the ability to notice, name and respond to your feelings in ways that support you. But for people with ADHD, this can be especially challenging. Emotions often feel big, fast and overwhelming – like the volume is always turned up and there is no way to turn it down.

In this episode of the ADHD linguist, I explore what emotional regulation really means, how it works in the brain, and why it can be harder for those of us with ADHD.

I also look at how being bilingual or multilingual adds layers of complexity, especially for interpreters and translators who manage emotional content in more than one language while staying professionally neutral.

As someone training to become a certified ADHD coach, I see emotional regulation come up time and time again in coaching sessions, and in my own life. This episode blends science, lived experience and practical support to help you understand and work with your emotions more kindly.

If you have ever been told you are too sensitive, too reactive or just too much – this episode is for you.

Your emotions are valid. Your intensity is not a flaw. You are not too much – you are just enough.
