As the title indicates, here are three science fiction stories by Frank Herbert: "Missing Link", originally published in "Astounding Science Fiction", 1959; "Operation Haystack", also published in "Astounding Science Fiction" 1959; and "Old Rambling House", published in "Galaxy Science Fiction" 1958.

These are three imaginative science fiction stories by an author I admire a lot, William Tenn. "Venus is a Man's World", ("Galaxy Science Fiction", July 1951), "Project Hush" ("Galaxy Science Fiction", 1954) and "Of All Possible Worlds" ("Galaxy", Sept 1956).

They had all—the artificial intelligences of Sol and the sailors of the Third Expeditionary Fleet alike—believed the Starless Horrors were mindless monsters: little more than beasts driven by eldritch desires, lashing out from their unknown depths to kill and destroy. But that naïve perception was thoroughly crushed after an encounter with a terrifying entity who called itself the Executor.

With the alien Dhryn cutting a pathway through the inhabited spaceways - bringing about the annihilation of many of the races who have the misfortune to lie along the star trail they are following - time is running out for all sentient life-forms. Can biologists Mackenzie Connor and Emily Mamami solve the riddle of the Dhryn before their part of the galaxy becomes as dead as the mysterious region known as the Chasm?
