Parti en mission, Austin est déclaré disparu par son bataillon. Seule et désemparée, Emery ne veut pas croire à ce nouveau coup du sort. Elle voit ressurgir ses anciens démons et son histoire personnelle se répéter. Il y a quelques années, elle perdait son précédent compagnon, Julian, tout aussi brutalement. Épaulée par ses amis et par la famille d'Austin, Emery est assaillie de questions : Austin est-il mort ? Si par miracle, il revient, pourra-t-il reprendre une vie normale ?

Emery, pâtissière de renom, peine à se reconstruire suite au décès brutal de son mari Julian lors d'une opération militaire. Elle qui croyait à l'amour avec un grand A, se retranche désormais derrière son chagrin et ne laisse aucun autre homme entrer dans sa vie. Austin, lui, collectionne les aventures d'un soir et s'amuse autant qu'il le peut avec les femmes ! Lorsque Emery et Austin se rencontrent, l'impensable se produit. Chacun fait vaciller les certitudes de l'autre et la magie opère...
