Contending For the Faith provides teaching on a discipleship level that includes theology, apologetics, evangelism, and issues that are pertinent to our society today. After a short teaching, the phone lines are opened up to callers who have questions, comments, or who are in need of advice and prayer. Counseling is also provided to those who need it, in addition to prayer, words of encouragement are given. Contending For The Faith is a no-nonsense, straight-talking broadcast that squarely puts the spotlight of Scripture on all things which adversely effect God's people, tarnishes the testimony of, and hinders the effectiveness of The Lord's Church.

The Vigilant Church of God is a group of people who believe Jesus Christ raised up an apostle in the 20th century to lead the Philadelphia era of God's Church. That man was Herbert W. Armstrong. In Matt. 28:19-20, Christ gave the commission to preach the gospel to all nations, to His original apostles, not to the Church. When He gave that commission to the apostles, the Church had not yet been born. Christ gave this great commission to the apostles 10 days before the spirit begotten Church of God even existed.
