La fiaba per bambini "Le Fate" è stata tratta dalla collana "I Racconti delle Fate" di Carlo Collodi: una raccolta di fiabe che Collodi ha tradotto dal francese e che, come dice egli stesso nella prefazione, "nel voltare in italiano (...) qua e là mi feci lecite alcune leggerissime varianti, sia di vocabolo, sia di andatura di periodo, sia di modi di dire: e questo ho voluto notare qui di principio, a scanso di commenti, di atti subitanei di stupefazione e di scrupoli grammaticali o di vocabolario.

Dovremmo stare molto attenti agli accordi che facciamo perché sapete cosa succede in "L'ondina nello stagno"? Un uomo ricco ha fatto un patto con una fatina: la fatina avrebbe fatto in modo che la ricchezza della famiglia non finisse, mentre in cambio avrebbe potuto prendere tutto quello che fosse appena nato in casa. E purtroppo si trattava del figlio dell'uomo.

Iridella è una fata. E cosa fa una fata quando si innamora di un Normal? Come ogni ragazza: qualunque cosa, pur di aiutarlo.
