He was speaking to a church where some were free, and others under the yoke of slavery, reminding them of their position as disciples of Christ, and showing how it lifts them up above the distinction that existed in their temporal condition.

George Everard (1828-1901) describes the Christian in three images or attitudes: the little child, the laborer, and the soldier clad in armor, whose motto is, "I fight." He emphasizes the need to daily put on the whole armor of God. That will make the believer valiant in winning souls and patient in waiting.
