Father David Bauer changed lives - at the rink, in the classroom, and at the pulpit. Bauer's dream created the first truly national Canadian hockey team. In 1963 that unique group represented Canada abroad and were committed to both country and to Father Bauer. Whether shepherding the hockey program at St. Michael's College in Toronto or the men's national team out of the University of British Columbia, Bauer was both spiritual leader and trailblazer.

From the earliest hints in the late 1960s that something remarkable was happening, up to Arsenal's ascendance as a global organisation, Black Arsenal is the first dedicated exploration of the club's relationship to contemporary Black identity and culture. It sees the club's affinity with Black identity transcend football and spread across cultures: in the media, music, fashion, politics and everyday social experiences.

Seine dabei gemachte große Entdeckung, die Durchfahrt vom Atlantischen zum Pazifischen Ozean durch Südamerika, heißt bis heute nach seinem Entdecker: die Magellanstraße!
