FNH Audio presents an unabridged reading of H. Rider Haggard’s tale of Allan Quatermain, 'Long Odds'. Allan Quatermain, the famous African hunter, didn’t drink as a rule, but one night while having a particularly fine wine with his friends, he was led to tell the tale of a lion hunt that would leave Allan both poor and wounded.

Allan Quatermain, or Hunter Quatermain as his friends call him, recounts his South African adventure of hunting four lions.

In this story, the heroic Allan Quatermain, the discoverer of King Solomon's Mines, returns to tell of another exciting episode from his life in deepest Africa. Pushed by his dining companions to relate the story of the mines, he instead tells them of a little matter concerning the loss of everything he owned and a near death experience.
