Thomas Troward was a divisional Judge in British-administered India, who had a particular interest in the study of comparative religion. The major influence on his thinking, as well as on his writing, was the Bible, although he also considered the elements of ancient Mesopotamian religions, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism in his deliberations. After his retirement from the judiciary in 1896, Troward applied himself to the study of cause and effect in the spiritual realms using the principles of judicial investigation.

A classic work of English mysticism, Julian of Norwich's Revelations of Divine Love is an account of 16 divine visions and her meditations on them. She puts forth her ideas of God as a lover or divine love. Julian's revelations, experienced while suffering from a serious illness, may be dismissed as simple hallucinations or could be regarded as true divine visions from God. Regardless of what one might believe, "Revelations of Divine Love" is an important historical work of Christian theology.

On May 8, 1373, 30-year-old Julian of Norwich, sick and near death, had a series of visions of Christ. In these 16 visions she learnt about God's loving nature. God in Julian's visions was not angry and wrathful. Instead, the three properties of God were presented as life, love and light, and all of His creation was good, including his servant, man. In Julian's version, Man is not to blame for his sin; instead it is something that he must experience and overcome in his spiritual journey with God.

When you think of New Thought and its teachings, you may not picture a man born when the U.S. Confederacy still existed. Charles Fillmore, born in 1854, is one of the foremost theologians, philosophers, and thinkers in the movement we call New Thought today. A true American mystic who championed Christ's teachings, Fillmore’s writings and teachings were innovative and well ahead of his time.
