Charlie Parker ha da poco riacquistato la sua licenza di investigatore privato quando viene interpellato da Bennett Patchett, il proprietario di un diner nei pressi di Portland, piuttosto scettico riguardo alle circostanze del suicidio del figlio, reduce dell'Iraq.
