Story0
The Living Letters is not your typical podcast. We are a Christian platform inspired by 2 Corinthians 3:3; every believer is a living letter from Christ—a testimony of His grace, love, and transformative power. Inspired by this scripture, the platform serves to amplify the stories of individuals who, through their lives and actions, reflect Christ to the world. Each guest embodies what it means to be a “letter” written by the Spirit of God. You can follow us on Instagram and YouTube under the same name, thelivingletters_ and the living letters, respectively.

Six weeks before her eighth birthday in May of 2024, my granddaughter Paige Schilling was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Paige underwent a 14-hour brain surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The tumor was successfully removed and Paige began a lengthy period of rehabilitation. During this time, Paige received so many gifts from friends and family that her father considered renting a storage unit. Instead of giving her another stuffed toy, I decided to write letters to Paige. The letters describe real events from my own life beginning from a time before television existed.

Story0
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

Many also know the prolific legacy of Elisabeth Elliot, whose influence on generations of believers through print and broadcast testimony continues to resonate. What many don’t know is the remarkable story of how these two stalwart personalities - single-mindedly devoted to pursuing God’s will for their young lives, certain their future callings would require them to sacrifice forever the blessings of marriage - found their hearts intertwined.

Scuttlebutt (naval slang for the ship’s gossip) is the affectionate nickname given to the Tongue by the Heart, as he reprimands the Tongue for steering the whole person into catastrophe; enjoying morsels of gossip, creating smokescreens of lies. From the Bible’s teaching on speech, particularly the Proverbs, the reader will taste the bitter destruction of the Tongue. But as the Heart rebukes the Tongue it becomes increasingly clear that something isn’t right … there is another villain, a deeper poison, lurking within.
