Narra della vita di Gesù e si apre con le nascite miracolose di Giovanni Battista e di Gesù, per poi descrivere il ministero di quest'ultimo in Galilea, fatto di predicazione, esorcismi e miracoli; dopo aver rivelato ai discepoli la propria natura divina con la trasfigurazione, Gesù si reca a Gerusalemme, dov'è crocifisso e sepolto per poi risorgere, comparire ai suoi discepoli e infine ascendere al cielo.

I commenti ai Vangeli costituiscono una grande ricchezza del contributo di Steiner all'evoluzione dell'umanità. Non ebbero mai veste scritta: sono la trascrizione di una serie di conferenze; nel 1908 per il Vangelo di Giovanni, nel 1909 per Luca, nel 1910 per Matteo e nel 1912 per Marco. Grazie alla vedova Steiner questi scritti furono pubblicati nel 1930. Il Vangelo di Luca viene interpretato alla luce della scienza dello Spirito, e in particolare vengono approfondite le relazioni tra Buddha e il Cristo.
