Als er erkennt, was ihm widerfahren ist, erbricht sich Thyestes und verflucht den Atreus. Mit diesem Zurückholen und Herausschleudern der Gewalt wird ein Mechanismus in Gang gesetzt, der die ganze Sippe in Mitleidenschaft zieht: Aigisthos tötet Atreus, Orest tötet Aigisthos und seine Mutter Klytaimnestra. Auch Homers Ilias stellt von Anfang an den Zorn des Achill als Leitmotiv in den Vordergrund.

Manfred Spitzer eckt mit seinen Thesen an, aber für ihn ist unabweisbar, dass exzessiver Medienkonsum Kinder verdummt und aggressiv macht. Bei Computerspielen sieht er sogar eine Verschärfung dieser Tendenz, denn der Spieler schlüpft in die Haut des Akteurs und sitzt nun im wahren Sinne des Wortes am Abzug.
