Die herbeigerufenen Historiker und Archäologen sind sich sicher, dass diese Münzen zum sagenumwobenen und verfluchten Nibelungenschatz gehören. Als kurz darauf einer der Bauarbeiter stirbt, glaubt man noch an einen Unfall. Doch die unheimliche Serie von Todesfällen bricht nicht ab.

Herrin des Sees, ich rufe dich. Entsteige den Fluten und reiche mir deine Hand zur Versöhnung. Die Augen des am Boden knienden Ritters waren geschlossen. Er meditierte, versuchte geistigen Kontakt herzustellen. Doch die Herrin des Sees meldete sich nicht. Sie hielt sich zurück. Sir Galahad presste die Lippen fest zusammen. Innerlich schwand allmählich eine Hoffnung dahin.

Der Kölner Dom ist das architektonische Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Zu seinen Schätzen gehören neben dem Gero-Kreuz (Ende 10. Jh.), dem Chorgestühl (14. Jh.) und dem Altar von Stephan Lochner (1445) der Dreikönigsschrein (um 1200). Doch auch über dieses gotische Bauwerk erzählt man sich viele schaurige Geschichten. Eine davon ist die vom Geist des Dombaumeisters Gerhard von Ryle, der keine Ruhe findet und auch in der Gegenwart sein Unwesen treibt.
